Hermann Kuhn (born March 14, 1945 in Taucha ) is a Bremen politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and was a member of the Bremen Parliament .

biography

education and profession

After graduating from the Kiel School of Academics and studying, Kuhn passed the state examination for teaching at primary and secondary schools. He completed his legal clerkship in Bremen, but was not employed there in school. From 1974 to 1977 he was a teacher at the secondary school in Brinkum . Because of his functionary work for the Communist League of West Germany (KBW) and a candidacy on its list for the elections for Bremen citizenship in 1975, he was banned from working . He wrote many articles for the Communist People's Newspaper (KVZ), mainly about Eastern Europe. From 1978 to 1981 he was editor of the KVZ in Berlin with a focus on topics related to Eastern Europe. From 1980 he worked as a proofreader and typesetter at the Bremer Tageszeitungen AG . Since 1984 he has been a member of the works council there . In 1989 he received his doctorate at the University of Bremen with the work Der Bruch. Autobiographical writings by ex-communists in divided Germany. Since reaching retirement age, he has devoted himself more to political work.

Kuhn was a member of the Communist League of West Germany from 1973 to 1981. In the early 1980s he actively supported the Solidarność workers' movement in Poland - also personally . From October 19, 1991 to 2003 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. From 1995 he was one of the Vice-Presidents of Parliament. After a break in the 16th legislative period, he was again a member of the Bremen parliament from 2007 to 2015. He was represented in the Committee for Integration, Federal and European Affairs, International Contacts and Development Cooperation, Works Committee “Performa Nord”, Budget and Finance Committee (State and City), Audit Committee (State and City), Legal Committee, Election Supervision Court and the temporary committees “Extension of the right to vote ”and to amend the state constitution.

On November 12, 2011, he and the political scientist Henrike Müller were elected to succeed Susan Ella-Mittrenga as the two board spokesmen of the regional association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Bremen . At the state general assembly he received 119 out of 147 valid votes. In 2013, Kuhn decided not to run again. After the resignation of Ralph Saxes , he was re-elected as state board spokesman in September 2018. In 2019 he was succeeded by Florian Pfeffer .

Kuhn is also chairman of the Bremen regional association of the European Union Germany and treasurer of the German-Israeli Society .
