Oberliga 1960/61

The II. Division 1960/61 was the twelfth season of the II. Division , which formed the second highest division in football in parts of Germany between 1949 and 1963. In the 1960/61 season there was a single-track II Division in west , south-west and south Germany . The 2nd Division was not introduced in northern Germany and West Berlin . Here the amateur league was the second highest division.

Schwarz-Weiß Essen and Fortuna Düsseldorf were promoted to the Oberliga West. VfL Bochum and Rot-Weiss Essen were relegated from the league . The SSV Hagen and BV Osterfeld had relegated to the Verbandsliga and were by the SV Neukirchen and Sportfreunde Siegen replaced.

Promotion round west

The champions of the three West German associations took part in the promotion round. Since both Siegburg and Datteln decided not to go up, the Westphalian runner-up, Sportfreunde Siegen, followed suit.

southwest

The VfR Kaiserslautern and the BSC Oppau rose to the Oberliga Südwest. VfR Frankenthal and SV Niederlahnstein descended from the Oberliga Südwest . The Spvgg Andernach and Viktoria Sulzbach had to relegate to the amateur league and were replaced by 1. FC Sobernheim and SV 06 Völklingen .

Ascent round southwest

The champions of the three southwest German amateur leagues took part in the promotion round. Since the Southwest German representative at the German Amateur Championship was also determined during the promotion round, the teams from Sobernheim and Völklingen with the same points had to play a playoff, which Sobernheim won 3-2 in Homburg .

The BC Augsburg and TSV Schwaben Augsburg rose in the Oberliga Süd. SSV Jahn Regensburg and TSG Ulm were relegated from the league in 1846 . The TSV Straubing and the SV Darmstadt 98 had to stay in the Amateurliga and were prepared by the FC Hanau 93 and 1. FC HASSFURT replaced.

Ascent round south

The champions of the five southern German amateur leagues and the runners-up from Bavaria , Hesse and Württemberg took part in the promotion round . Originally, Haßfurt was promoted on the grounds that "a city of 6,800 inhabitants cannot provide the economic prerequisites for the 2nd division". The association started a playoff between the Offenburg FV and SC Schwenningen . After further documents were submitted by Haßfurt, the association was allowed to rise.
