The 13th season of the German reality show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! started on January 11, 2019 on the private broadcaster RTL and was broadcast until January 26, 2019.

As in the years 2013 to 2018, the moderators were Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich . The paramedic Bob McCarron alias “Dr. Bob “was there again.

As in the previous year, the current events in the camp were then analyzed and discussed in the talk show I am a star - The hour after .

On February 10, 2019, an additional program with the title “I'm a star - get me out of here! The aftermath ” broadcast.

Evelyn Burdecki was the jungle queen and winner of the first 100,000 euros .

Jungle exams

In the jungle tests, the candidates have to earn stars, which are then converted into food rations. Gisele Oppermann completed a jungle test nine times in a row, surpassing Larissa Marolt's previous record (eight tests in a row).

¹After Oppermann broke off the exam before the start, the candidates were given a second chance. Oppermann also stopped the new attempt before the start.

Treasure hunt

The candidates go on a treasure hunt in pairs and solve a task. If successful, they usually bring a treasure chest to the camp. There the chest is opened, in which there is a quiz question with two possible answers. If the candidates answer the task correctly, there is a prize such as sweets or spices; if they answer incorrectly, there is a useless consolation prize such as a garden gnome. More rarely, there is an immediate win after solving the task.

Trivia

• The stars were no longer allowed to sleep during the day this season.
• For the first time, a jungle test was allowed to be repeated after it was canceled, but was canceled again.
• Even before the start there was a feud between Bastian Yotta and Chris Töpperwien. In addition, Evelyn Burdecki and Domenico de Cicco were formerly a couple. The two resulting conflicts were a recurring motif of the season.
• The night treasure hunt did not go until the next morning as usual, but was much shorter.
• Thorsten Legat made several short appearances. He coached Gisele Oppermann before and after the Schloss mit Funny exam and to celebrate the 200th episode on January 23rd, he performed as DJ Kasalla in the tree house. He also made a brief appearance in the final episode.
• Due to server problems when evaluating the voting, nobody had to leave the camp on day 14. In episode 15, the participant left the camp with the fewest votes the previous day. Due to the later start of the voting on staying in the camp and because there was no voluntary move out, for the first time two candidates had to leave the camp at the same time via the voting.
• The names of the jungle tests in the final come from the mantra “ I am strong, healthy and full of energy! ”(I am strong, healthy and full of energy!) From Bastian Yotta's Yotta Bible (cf. exam of January 29 of the previous season). The moderators made fun of the fact that the stars still believed that, with their mutually discussed decision , they were allowed to choose the tasks (and not just the name) themselves, although these had already been assigned to them by the broadcaster and the final exams since the 9th season have meaningless names.
