Career
Jonathan Weaver began his career as a hockey player with the Durham Wasps , where he made his debut at the age of 15 in the British Hockey League , the then top British league. After the Wasps broke up in 1996, he moved to the Newcastle Cobras , with whom he competed in the Ice Hockey Superleague , now the top British league. After two years in Newcastle, he moved to league rivals Manchester Storm , with whom he won the 1999 Superleague main round. He also started the following season in Manchester, but shortly after the start of the season he moved to the United States, where he played for the Detroit Vipers in the International Hockey League and for the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the East Coast Hockey League . In 2000 he returned to Great Britain and joined the Superleague club Ayr Scottish Eagles , with whom he won the Challenge Cup in 2002. After the Eagles had to stop playing for financial reasons after a few match days in autumn 2002, he moved to the second-rate British National League , where he first played for Hull Thunder and then for the Fife Flyers . In 2013 he returned to Newcastle and played with the local Vipers for two years in the BNL and in the Elite Ice Hockey League , whose playoffs he won with his team in 2006. From 2007 to 2012, Weaver was on the ice at Coventry Blaze . With the team from the West Midlands , he was the main round winner of the EIHL British champions in 2008 and 2010 . In 2008 the Knockout Cup was also won. After two years with the Nottingham Panthers , with which they again became British champions in 2013 and also won the EIHL Playoffs and the Challenge Cup, which was also won in 2014, he moved to the Telford Tigers in the second-rate English Premier Ice Hockey League . With the tigers he won the EPIHL in 2015 and 2017 and their cup competition in 2015.
In addition to many other personal awards, he was voted the best British defender in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013. In 2015 he was elected to the First All-Star Team of the English Premier Ice Hockey League .

In 2011, he equalized the 1-1 draw in the final 3-2 win against Poland and thus kept hopes of his first promotion to the top division since relegation in 1994. In the end, however, the British failed to Kazakhstan , as the Asians were able to turn their last game against Ukraine after a 2-1 deficit.
