Kukły ( German  Kuckeln ) is a small place in the Polish Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the Gmina Biała Piska ( town and country municipality Bialla (1938 to 1945 Gehlenburg )) in the powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ).

Geographical location

Kukły is located in the south-east of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship, 14 kilometers south-east of the district town of Pisz ( German  Johannisburg ) .

history

The small town consisting of a couple of large and small farms and by 1785 Kucklen and after 1818 Kuklen called, was in 1471 by the Teutonic Order as Freigut eleven hooves founded.

From 1874 to 1945 the village was incorporated into the Morgen district.

In 1910 there were 56 registered residents in Kuckeln. In 1933 their number was 66 and in 1939 it was 64.

In war-induced Kuckeln 1945 came with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and received the Polish form of the name "Kukly". Today the village is part of the urban and rural community of Biała Piska (Bialla , 1938 to 1945 Gehlenburg) in the Powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ), until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Kukły had 162 inhabitants.

Religions

Until 1945 Kuckeln was parish in the Evangelical Church of Kumilsko and in the Roman Catholic Church of Pisz in what was then the Diocese of Warmia . Today, on the Catholic side, Kukły belongs to the parish of Kumielsk in the Diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant residents orientate themselves towards the parish in Biała Piska , a branch parish of the Pisz parish in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Kukły can be reached via a junction from the Biała Piska - Kumielsk road, and a side road from Szymki also leads directly into the village.
