Lance Monych (born July 25, 1984 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Esbjerg fB since 2013 .

Career

Monych was selected in 1999 at the WHL Bantam Draft in 39th place by the Brandon Wheat Kings , for whom he went on the ice in the Western Hockey League in the following years . After he had participated in the connection to the 2001/02 season in the CHL Top Prospects Game , he was elected at the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the fourth round in 97th position by the Phoenix Coyotes . After completing his junior years, he played in the 2005/06 season for the San Antonio Rampage , the farm team of the Phoenix Coyotes, in the American Hockey League and for Stockton Thunder in the ECHL .

After two seasons in the ECHL for the Phoenix RoadRunners and the Mississippi Sea Wolves , Monych moved to Europe in summer 2008 and played one season for the Tilburg Trappers in the Dutch Eredivisie , where he was runner-up with his team. He started the 2009/10 season in the Central Hockey League with the Laredo Bucks , before moving to the Heilbronner Falken in the 2nd Bundesliga in January 2010 for half a year .

After a year with SG Pontebba in the Italian Serie A1 , Monych returned to Germany for the 2011/12 season and despite a long break from injury was one of the top performers at the upper division Ratinger Ice Aliens . For the following season he moved to the promotion aspirant Löwen Frankfurt . There, however, as the third foreigner license player after Jakub Rumpel and Branislav Pohanka, he got only a little playing time.

In July 2013 he signed a contract with the Danish first division club Esbjerg fB .
