The men's 200-meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1969 was held from September 18 to 20, 1969 at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens .
The European champion was the third in the 100-meter run Philippe Clerc from Switzerland. He won ahead of the GDR sprinter Hermann Burde . Bronze went to the Pole Zenon Nowosz .

European champion Philippe Clerc improved the existing EM record in the final on September 20th by a tenth of a second to 20.6 seconds.
