The hammer throw men in the 2014 European Athletics Championships was held on 14 and 16 August 2014 in the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.

The Hungarian defending champion Krisztián Pars became European champion . He was the Olympic champion in 2012 , runner-up of 2011 / 2013 and the European Championship -Third of 2010 . Second place went to the reigning world champion Paweł Fajdek from Poland . Bronze went to the Russian Sergei Sergejewitsch Litvinow , son of the Olympic champion and former world champion Sergei Nikolajewitsch Litvinow .

qualification

22 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 75.00 m. Seven athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the five next-placed athletes to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). In the end, 73.85 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
