The German Athletics Association sent a total of 66 participants to the 2015 World Athletics Championships in the Chinese capital Beijing .

The defending champion and Olympic champion of 2012 in the discus throw, Robert Harting , who would have been able to participate even without the competition result of the current season through a wildcard , declared shortly before the World Championships that he would not start in Beijing due to his cruciate ligament injury not yet fully cured .

With two won gold, three silver and three bronze medals, the German team was ranked No. 7 in the medals table .
