List of queens of France
The title Queen of France ( pure de France ) was only an honorary title. According to Salian law , it was the title "épouse de roi de France" or "épouse de roi des Français". The queen had no government authority, except as regent in the absence or underage of the king, which was not automatically granted to them, but was granted personally.
This list only contains - based on the list of rulers of France - the queens of France from Louis the Pious , i.e. the division of the empire of Charlemagne , but not the queens of the Frankish Empire. Those wives of French kings or part kings in Carolingian times who did not become queen of France were accepted (and indented).
