The list of winners and nominees for the Swiss Book Prize includes the award-winning and nominated works since the first award of the Swiss Book Prize in 2008. The jury members of the respective years are also added.

Award winners and nominations

2008

Five works out of 84 proposed titles were nominated for the award:

At the award ceremony on November 16, 2008 at Buch.08 in Basel , Rolf Lappert was able to prevail with his novel, which had already been nominated for the German Book Prize.
Adolf Muschg had his work deleted from the nomination list the previous evening on the grounds that good books are not comparable.

2009

Five works out of 61 proposed titles were nominated for the award:

Ilma Rakusa emerged as the winner from the award ceremony on November 15, 2009.

2010

Five works out of 69 suggested titles were nominated for the award:

Melinda Nadj Abonji received the Swiss Book Prize 2010.
The award ceremony took place on November 14, 2010 as part of BuchBasel . For the first time there was the opportunity to submit public votes (audience votes ) regardless of the decision of the jury .

2011

Five works out of 60 proposed titles were nominated for the award:

The 2011 award went to Catalin Dorian Florescu. The award ceremony took place on November 20, 2011 at BuchBasel.

2012

Five works out of 76 proposed titles were nominated for the award:

The 2012 award went to Peter von Matt, which is the first time that a non-fiction work was awarded. The award ceremony took place on November 11, 2012 on the occasion of BuchBasel, for the first time in the Theater Basel .

2013

Five works out of 82 proposed titles were nominated for the award:

Jens Steiner received the Swiss Book Prize 2013 for his novel Carambole. The award ceremony took place on October 27, 2013 in the Theater Basel .

2014

Lukas Bärfuss and Koala received the award . The following were also nominated:

The award ceremony at BuchBasel took place on November 9th, again at Theater Basel.

2015

The prize was awarded to Eins im Andern by Monique Schwitter . The following were also nominated:

The award ceremony at BuchBasel took place on November 8th at the Theater Basel.

2016

The prize went to the novel The Dead of Christian Kracht . The award ceremony took place on November 13th as part of BuchBasel in the Theater Basel. The following were also nominated:

2017

The award ceremony took place on November 12th, also this time as part of BuchBasel in the Theater Basel. The award went to the novel Kraft by Jonas Lüscher .

Urs Faes did not take part in the award ceremony. He was bothered by the fact that the SRF editor Nicola Steiner quoted a sharp criticism of his book by juror Martin Ebel in her moderation of the late night show on the anniversary of the award and named Jonas Lüscher as her favorite. The previous winners showed their solidarity with Faes at the award ceremony.

2018

The award ceremony took place on November 11th at BuchBasel. The award went to the novel The gentle indifference of the world by Peter Stamm .

A few days after the award ceremony, Lukas Bärfuss, who had received the award in 2014, made serious allegations in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung against those responsible for the Swiss Book Prize, including the independence of the jury; the organizers would attend the jury meetings and have their say. The Swiss Booksellers and Publishers Association (SBVV) denied any influence.
