List of the most serious aviation accidents in Germany

This list includes serious aviation accidents on German territory with more than 20 fatalities. In the case of the aircraft accidents highlighted in blue , the number of victims is controversial or there are different details.

Oct 14, 1953 BelgiumBelgium Sabena Convair CV-240 44 Shortly after taking off from Frankfurt Airport , a Convair CV-240 crashed as a result of a stall. The cause was lead deposits on the spark plugs of the engines.

Near Detmold , a C-119 was accidentally hit by mortar shells while flying over the Senne military training area , which British troops had fired during an exercise. Nine parachutists were able to leave the machine before it crashed.
