2011
- (A) January 9 - A Boeing 727-286adv ( aircraft registration EP-IRP) wasflown into a mountainnear Urmia Airport on the flight from Tehran with 105 people on board. She was approaching landing in poor weather conditions when the crew took off and shortly afterwards the aircraft collided with a nearby mountain slope. 78 of the 105 people on board were killed (see also Iran Air flight 277 ) .
- (A) February 10 - A Fairchild Metroliner of the regional airline Manx2 crashed in Cork, Ireland after the co-pilot had tried several times to touch down on the runway in heavy fog. The plane overturned and caught fire. 6 of 12 occupants (including 2 pilots) died (see also Manx2 flight 7100 ) .
- February 14 - A Let L-410 operated by Central American Airways crashed in fog after several attempts to land five kilometers from the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa . All 14 people on board, 12 passengers and 2 crew members, were killed.
- April 4 - A UN- operated Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet CRJ 100 of Georgian Airways (4L-GAE) crashed while approaching Kinshasa-Ndjili airport in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . On board the plane, which took off in the eastern Congolese city of Kisangani , were 33 people, including 20 UN employees. Only one passenger survived.
- May 7th - A Xi'an MA60 of the Indonesian airline Merpati Nusantara Airlines , coming from Sorong , crashed into the sea about 500 meters from the runway during the approach to the airport of Kaimana ( Western New Guinea ), which was made difficult by mist, rain and wind . The 21 passengers and four crew members were killed.
- (A) May 18 - A Saab 340 A of the airline Sol Líneas Aéreas crashed during a flight from Neuquén to Comodoro Rivadavia near Los Menucos for initially unexplained reasons. The 19 passengers and the three crew members died (see also Sol Líneas Aéreas flight 5428 ) .
- 20 June - A passenger aircraft of type Tupolev Tu-134 of airline RUSAIR on the way from Moscow Domodedovo to Petrozavodsk slipped on landing in the fog trees and crashed to a location near the destination airport road, broke and caught fire. 47 of the 52 inmates were killed.
- July 6 - An Ilyushin Il-76TD of the Silk Way Airlines (4K-AZ55) was flown during a cargo flight from Baku to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan while approaching a mountain ( controlled flight into terrain ) and burned out. None of the nine crew members survived the accident.
- (A) July 8 - A45-year-old Boeing 727-022 of Hewa Bora Airways (later flyCongo) (9Q-COP) comingfrom Kinshasa had an accident while approaching Kisangani-Bangoka Airport (Democratic Republic of the Congo). 77 of the 115 people on board were killed (see also Hewa Bora Airways flight 952 ) .
- (A) July 11 - During the ditching of an Antonov An-24 propellerplane ofthe Russian airline Angara Airlines on the Siberian Ob rivernear Streschewoidue to the fire of one of the two engines, the fuselage of the aircraft held the heavy load from the impact not standing in the water. At least 7 of the 37 passengers were killed; of the other passengers on board the aircraft that was en route from Tomsk to Surgut , more than 25 were injured (see also Angara Airlines flight 5007 ) .
- (A) July 13 - A feeder aircraft of the type Let L-410UVP-E20 of the NOAR Linhas Aéreas (PR-NOB) sufferedan engine damage during the take-off run at Recife Airport . The captain pulled the machine up anyway and tried to keep it in the air. The first officer tried in vain to convince the captain to make an emergency landing on a nearby beach. This refused and tried to reach the airport. Shortly thereafter there was a stall and the machine crashed, killing all 16 people on board (see also NOAR Linhas Aéreas flight 4896 ) .
- (A) July 28 - A Boeing 747-400F of Asiana Airlines crashed on the flight from Seoul Incheon to Shanghai in the morning, an hour after the start , into the sea. When the pilots noticed fire in the hold, they triedto make an emergency landingat the airport on Jeju Island. But this attempt failed after the pilots had also reported a problem with the controls. The machine crashed about 130 kilometers west of the island. The crew was killed (see also Asiana Airlines flight 991 ) .
- (A) August 20 - A Boeing 737-200 operated by Canadian airline First Air flewinto a 120-meter-high hill one mile from the runway as itapproached Resolute Bay Airport . Of the 11 passengers and 4 crew members, 12 people died. Three people survived injured (see also First Air Flight 6560 ) .
- (A) September 7 - A Yakovlev Yak-42 crashed shortly after taking off from Yaroslavl Airport on its way to Minsk due to a pilot's error. Of the 37 passengers, including almost the entire team from the Russian ice hockey club Lokomotive Yaroslavl , and 8 crew members on board, only one flight attendant survived (see also YAK service flight 9633 ) .
- September 25 - After a sightseeing flight over the Himalayas , a twin-engine propeller plane of the type Beechcraft 1900D of Buddha Air (9N-AEK) was flown against a hill shortly before landing at Kathmandu airport . At the time of the crash, the clouds were low. All 16 passengers and 3 crew members were killed.
- September 29 - A CASA / Nurtanio NC-212-CC4 Aviocar was lost on Nusantara Buana Air flight 823 from Medan to Kuta Cane. The completely destroyed machine was discovered five days later, but only the deaths of the 14 passengers and the 4 crew members could be determined. The same machine was involved in the 2001 flight accident involving a CASA Aviocar at Long Bawan Airport with a dead person.
- November 1st - The Boeing 767-300ER SP-LPC of the Polish LOT with flight number LO 016 and 231 people on board (220 passengers and 11 crew members) had to make an emergency landing from Newark due to a technical problem with the landing gear extended at Warsaw Chopin Airport . The machine landed safely on the fuselage, there were no injuries. According to the airline, there was a problem with the hydraulic system. The Polish Aircraft Accident Investigation Board later found that a hydraulic hose on the brake on the right main landing gear had ruptured. Furthermore, a triggered fuse was found, which is responsible, among other things, for the alternative systems for extending the landing gear. Since this triggering is not recorded in any system display, the pilots were not informed of the problem either. The further investigations of the investigation body are now concentrating on the reason for the triggering of this fuse. The airport remained closed until the aircraft was recovered. The performance of the captain Tadeusz Wrona was generally presented very positively in the media.
2012
- March 15 - A Convair CV-340 of the Jet One Express ( aircraft registration number N153JR ) crashed after taking off from San Juan airport after an engine failed . Both pilots (the only occupants) were killed.
- March 22 - A Douglas DC-4 of the Jet One Express (N406WA) failed to control the nose landing gear while taxiing after landing at San Juan Airport ( Puerto Rico ). The plane got stuck over a moat. Both crew members of the cargo flight were uninjured. The machine was damaged beyond repair. Just seven days earlier, a Convair CV-340 of the Jet One Express had crashed after taking off from San Juan airport, killing both pilots.
- (A) April 2 - An ATR 72-200 of the Russian airline UTair (VP-BYZ) crashed at 7:33 a.m. local time on the way from Tyumen to Surgut while attempting an emergency landing shortly after take-off. The crash site is about 1.4 nautical miles past the end of the runway , about 45 km from Tyumen. Of the 43 inmates, 33 were killed. Errors by the ground crew and pilots were given as the causes of the crash; the commander was rolled with ice or snow remains on the wing at the start and had after the occurrence of stall not taken the proper measures after the retraction of the flaps (see also UTAir Flight 120 ) .
- (A) April 20 - A Boeing 737-200 operated by the Pakistani private airline Bhoja Air crashed into a residential area near the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad just minutes before the scheduled landing. The plane had taken off from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi with 121 passengers and six crew membersand got into a bad weather front (see also Bhoja Air flight 213 ) .
- (A) May 9 - The Sukhoi Superjet 100, newly developed in Russia,collided with a mountain in Indonesia at an altitude of 1,800 m. 48 people were killed in the process (see also Sukhoi Superjet 100 accident in Indonesia 2012 ) .
- (A) May 14 - The crash of a twin-engine aircraft of type Dornier Do 228 of the airline Agni Air died 15 people in Nepal. The plane started with 21 people at Jomsom Airport for a flight to Pokhara and reversed to the airport due to technical problems. During the approach, the aircraft hit a mountain (see also Agni-Air-Flug AG-CHT ) .
- June 2 - A Boeing 727-200 of the Allied Air (5N-BJN) rolled over the end of the runway of the airport in Accra ( Ghana ) and captured a minibus. All ten occupants of the minibus and two other people died on the ground.
- (A) June 3 - A McDonnell Douglas DC-9-83 (MD-83) operated by Nigerian Dana Air with 153 people on board crashed in a part of Lagos . All occupants and at least 10 people on the ground died (see also Dana Air flight 992 ) .
- June 10 - The pilots of a Let L-410 of the Ukrainska Shkola Pilotov (UR-SKD) , which was used to drop parachutists , tried to return to Borodjanka airfield in Ukraine due to an approaching thunderstorm . The machine crashed into a field near the airfield. Of the 20 inmates, 5 were killed and 15 survived the crash.
- (A) September 11 - On the Kamchatka Peninsula, an Antonov An-28 of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Air crashedon a mountain slope 10 kilometers from the airfieldwhile approaching Palana . 10 people were killed and 4 people survived. The crew had obviously been in the dark about their position (see also Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky-Air flight 251 ) .
- September 28 - A Dornier 228-200 of Sita Air (9N-AHA) on the flight to Lukla crashed after takeoff about 500 meters from Kathmandu removed from. All 19 occupants died in the accident. A loss of thrust unnoticed by the pilots led to a loss of control and a crash.
- November 30 - An Ilyushin Il-76 shot over the runway on landing in Brazzaville , Congo . 25 people were killed and 14 others were injured, some seriously.
- (A) December 17 - An Antonov An-26 with registration number OB-1887-P of the Peruvian cargo airline Amazon Sky went missingon the flight from Lima to the Pluspetrol airfield in the Cuzco Aeródromo Las Malvinas region. The plane was discovered the following day on a mountainside near Tomas in Yauyos Province . All 4 crew members were killed in the accident. Ice formation and the resulting failure of both engines were identified as the cause of the crash (see also the Amazon Sky flight accident near Tomas ) .
- December 25 - In the emergency landing of a Fokker 100 of the airline Air Bagan near the airport Heho in Myanmar died one of 71 people on board and one person on the ground.
- (A) December 29 - A Tupolev Tu-204-100 operated by Red Wings Airlines shotover the end of the runwaywhen landing at Moscow 's Vnukovo Airport , broke, caught fire and partially came to a halt on an adjacent expressway. Five people were killed in the accident and three others were seriously injured (see also Red Wings Airlines flight 9268 ) .
2013
- (A) January 29th - A Bombardier CRJ200ER of SCAT Airlines ( aircraft registration UP-CJ006 ) had an accident for an unexplained cause while approaching Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan while taking off . All 21 occupants were killed (see also SCAT flight 760 ) .
- (A) April 29 - A Boeing 747-400BCFs the National Airlines crashed in Afghanistan shortly after taking off from the US air base in Bagram from. All seven crew members of the freighter of the US company National Air Cargo died (see also National Air Cargo Flight 102 ) .
- May 6 - A Russian civil protection Mi-8 helicopter with nine people on board crashed during an operation in the Irkutsk region .
- June 1 - A Dornier 228-200 of Sita Air (9N-AHB) landed hard on the runway at the airport Simikot on. The five passengers and two crew members were uninjured in the accident.
- June 6 - A Mi-8 helicopter that took off from Tugur failed to reach its destination. The wreckage and the bodies of four crew members and one passenger who were on board were found two days later in difficult-to-access terrain.
- (A) July 6th - A Boeing 777-200 had an accident during the flight from Seoul-Incheon to San Francisco Airport due to insufficient speed on approach. 307 people were on board the machine, three of whom were killed (see also Asiana Airlines flight 214 ) .
- July 22 - A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 crash-landed at New York-LaGuardia Airport . Passengers reported that the Boeing landed hard and lost the nose landing gear. Eight people were slightly injured, six of whom were hospitalized with abrasions.
- (A) August 14th - An Airbus A300-600 with registration number N155UP (2003 model) of the cargo airline UPS Airlines crashed into a meadow near Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in Alabama , USA. Both pilots died (see also UPS Airlines flight 1354 ) .
- 23 August - Four occupants were killed in the crash of a Super Puma AS 332L2 when the machine crashed into the sea on its flight from the North Sea drilling platform Borgsten Dolphin to Sumburgh Airport on the Shetland Islands .
- (A) OCT 3 - A turboprop aircraft of type Embraer EMB 120 RT the Associated Aviation crashed immediately after takeoff from Lagos ( Nigeria ab) and caught fire. 16 of the 20 occupants were killed (see also Associated Aviation Flight 361 ) .
- October 14th - A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan of Aéreo Servicio Guerrero crashed 26 kilometers from the departure point Loreto ( Mexico ). All 14 inmates were killed. The wreck was not found until two days later.
- (A) October 16 - An ATR 72-600 of the Lao Airlines crashed on a domestic flight in Laos from Vientiane shortly before the destination airport Pakse in bad weather in the Mekong . All 49 occupants were killed (see also Lao Airlines flight 301 ) .
- (A) November 17 - A Boeing 737-500 (VQ-BBN) of Tatarstan Airlines had an accident while landing at Kazan Airport in the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation . All 50 occupants were killed (see also Tatarstan Airlines flight 363 ) .
- November 25 - A Tropicair Cessna 208B Grand Caravan crash-landed on the way from Kamusi to Purari in a river near Kibeni in Papua New Guinea . Three of the ten occupants, including the co-pilot, were killed.
- (A) November 29 - An Embraer 190AR of the Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique crashed on the flight from Maputo ( Mozambique ) to Luanda ( Angola ) in the Bwabwata National Park ( Namibia ), according to preliminary results, probably through the captain's intention. All 33 occupants were killed (see also Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique flight 470 ) .
- Nov. 29 - A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan of Era Alaska crashed near the destination airport Saint Mary's ( Alaska ab). The pilot and three of the nine passengers were killed.
2014
- (A) Feb. 16 - The pilot of a turboprop aircraft of the type de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter of Nepal Airlines ( air vehicle registration 9N-ABB ) lost its direction and flew close Sandhikhark in the district arghakhanchi district in western Nepal into a mountain. All three crew members and 15 passengers of the machine were killed (see also Nepal Airlines flight 183 ) .
- (A) March 8 - A Boeing 777-200ER (9M-MRO) with 239 people on board wentoff radarover the South China Sea en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing . In 2015-16, fragments of rubble were accidentally found on the coast of Southeast Africa, which experts say came from a Boeing 777 aircraft. The fate of the occupants is still unclear (see also Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 ) .
- May 31 - An Mi-8 helicopter crashed in Murmansk Oblast, Russia, killing around 15 people. The helicopter probably crashed into Lake Munosero on the way to Kanosero. According to the Russian Civil Protection Ministry, there were 18 people on board , some of them politicians. Two or three of the inmates survived the crash and were taken to hospital in Kandalaksha , about 100 kilometers to the west . The flight had been carried out for an inspection in the controversial Chibinen National Park.
- (A) July 17 - A Boeing 777-200ER of Malaysia Airlines crashed in eastern Ukraine on after they related to the local military conflict from a surface to air missile air defense system Buk M1 had been hit. All 298 people on board were killed (see also Malaysia Airlines flight 17 ) .
- (A) July 23. - A turboprop regional aircraft of the type ATR 72 of TransAsia Airways (B-22810) was from Taiwan's Kaohsiung Airport at 17:43 local time to the airport Magong on Penghu Islands started. In heavy rain and wind, the machine was flown into a residential area at the destination. The type of accident was a controlled flight into terrain (CFIT). 48 of the 58 occupants were killed (see also TransAsia Airways flight 222 ) .
- (A) July 24 - A McDonnell Douglas DC-9-83 of the Air Algérie (using a machine of the Swiftair ) disappeared en route from Ouagadougou to Algiers via Mali from the radar. The plane involved in the accident was later discovered 50 kilometers north of the Burkina Faso border. All 116 occupants on board were killed (see also Air Algérie flight 5017 ) .
- (A) August 10 - Shortly after take-off from Tehran with the destination Tabas , an Antonov An-140 turboprop aircraft(Iranian license production) of Sepahan Airlines (EP-GPA) crashed. All six crew members and 34 of the 42 passengers were killed in the accident (see also Sepahan Airlines flight 5915 ) .
- August 30 - An Antonov An-12 crashed after a technical stop in Tamanrasset ( Algeria ) shortly after take-off for an as yet unexplained cause. There were seven occupants on board, all of whom were killed.
- Dec. 4 - In Belize City , Belize , shot a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan of Tropic Air (V3-HHU) over the runway out into the waters of the Caribbean Sea . The aircraft was badly damaged, but there were no injuries.
- (A) December 28 - An Airbus A320-200 of Indonesia AirAsia with 162 people on board disappeared on the way from the airport Juanda ( Indonesia ) to Singapore from radar. The pilots had previously asked permission to change course in order to avoid bad weather. On December 30th, the crash site was found in the Java Sea ; no survivors could be rescued (see also Indonesia AirAsia flight 8501 ) .
- December 28 - A Britten-Norman BN-2A6 Islander of Air Services Limited - ASL (8R-GHE) disappeared without a trace during a cargo flight from Mahdia to Karisparu in Guyana with two crew members on board.
2015
- On January 2, 2015, the pilots of a Saab 340B from British Loganair ( aircraft registration G-LGNL ) failed to keep the aircraft on the runway in strong crosswinds when taking off from Stornoway Airport ( Outer Hebrides , Scotland). Even after the machine had left the runway and raced over grass and a closed runway, the captain left the thrust levers at full throttle and only pulled them back after the nose gear had collapsed. The 29 occupants, 3 crew members and 26 passengers survived the total loss of the machine.
- (A) February 4 - An ATR 72-600 of TransAsia Airways (B-22816) crashed shortly after taking off from the airport Taipei Songshan in the Keelung River , as the captain had turned off the wrong engine after an engine failure. Of the 58 occupants, 43 were killed and 15 survived the accident (see also TransAsia Airways flight 235 ) .
- February 11 - Shortly after taking off from Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport (KTMB), Miami , Florida en route to the Turks and Caicos Islands , the pilots of a Beechcraft 1900 C reported engine problems. While attempting to turn back, the aircraft hit a power pole and crashed into a residential area, killing the two pilots and two passengers. On the aircraft of the transport company Servicio Panamericano de Proteccion, extensive maintenance work on the left engine, including the replacement of the propeller, had been carried out shortly before the accident.
- (A) March 24 - An Airbus A320 of the German Wings with 144 passengers, two pilots and four other crew members on board was en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf through France into a descent and crashed in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence at a Mountain. According to the final report of the BEA , this was done with suicidal intent by the mentally ill copilot. The captain was not in the cockpit but was locked out (see also Germanwings flight 9525 ) .
- (A) March 29 - When landing at the airport in Halifax a missed Airbus A320 of the airline Air Canada the runway. In a snowstorm, the aircraft first touched an antenna system and lost a large part of its landing gear before it hit the ground 330 meters in front of the runway and slid on to the runway. Of the 133 passengers and 5 crew members on board, 25 people with minor injuries were brought to a hospital for observation (see also Air Canada flight 624 ) .
- (A) April 13 - A cargo plane of the type Swearingen SA-226 Metro II of Carson Air (C-GSKC) fell about 7 minutes after taking off from Vancouver airport 11 kilometers north from it. Both pilots were killed. It remains unclear why the plane fell into a dive with a rate of descent of up to 30,000 ft / min and broke apart in the process, as there were no functioning flight data recorders on board. According to the accident report, however, it is almost certain that the34-year-old captain's blood alcohol concentration of 2.5 per mille and his excessive alcoholism played a decisive role (see also Carson Air flight 66 ) .
- April 25 - In a failed landing and subsequent emergency landing at Istanbul Ataturk Airport , an Airbus A320 operated by the Turkish airline Turkish Airlines (TC-JPE) was irreparably damaged. During the first approach to runway 05 at Ataturk Airport, the Airbus rolled around its longitudinal axis to the right and landed hard, with the engine and wing making contact with the ground and the crew breaking off the attempt to land. During the subsequent emergency landing on runway 35L, the right main landing gear, which had been damaged in the unsuccessful landing attempt, collapsed and the aircraft coming from Milan came to a standstill off the runway against the landing direction. All 97 passengers survived the crash landing.
- (A) August 16 - An ATR 42 operated by the Indonesian airline Trigana Air Service crashed on a domestic flight from Jayapura to Oksibil in the Papua region for reasons that have not yet been clarified. None of the 54 occupants survived (see also Trigana Air Service Flight 257 ) .
- (A) August 20 - Two Let L-410s (OM-ODQ, OM-SAB) ,each with 17 parachutists and 2 pilots, tookoff from Dubnica airfield in Slovakia to drop parachutists from a height of 4000 meters. The machines flew at a safety distance of 100 meters from one another, but this was reduced in flight because the captain of the rear machine was simultaneously controlling the aircraft andfilmingthe flight with his smartphone , which distracted him accordingly. There was a collision and both machines fell to the ground. 31 parachutists were able to jump out of the falling machines and open their parachutes in good time. However, seven people were killed (see also the plane collision at Červený Kameň ) .
- (A) September 5 - A Boeing 737-800 collidedwith aSenegalair Hawker Siddeley HS.125 en route from Dakar to Cotonou . The 737 landed safely in Malabo . The HS.125 with seven people on board probably crashed into the Atlantic , but is still missing (see also Ceiba Intercontinental Airlines flight 71 ) .
- September 8 - The airport of Las Vegas failed when starting to take off an engine of a Boeing 777 of British Airways and caught fire. Out of 159 passengers and 13 crew members, 14 people were hospitalized with minor injuries.
- Sept. 25 - In a Curtiss C-46A of Buffalo Airways (C-GTXW) there was on a scheduled flight from the airport Yellowknife to Norman Wells to an engine failure. However, the propeller could not be brought into the sail position , so that an emergency landing was necessary due to the high air resistance. In a belly landing with a late touchdown at Déline airfield, the aircraft slid 200 meters beyond the end of the runway and was irreparably damaged. The four-man crew was unharmed.
- September 30 - A turboprop of the type De Havilland DHC-8-400 of Luxair (LX-LGH) broke at Saarbrücken Airport to start off after they had been lifted, and blocked with the landing gear retracted the runway. The 16 passengers and 4 crew members were uninjured. The aircraft was written off as a total loss.
- (A) October 2 - A de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter turboprop aircraft belonging to the Indonesian company Aviastar Mandiri (PK-BRM) collidedwith Mount Latimojong on the island of Sulawesi on its flight from Masamba to Makassar . All eight passengers and the two pilots were killed (see also Aviastar Mandiri flight 7503 ) .
- (A) October 31 - A Russian charter aircraft of the type Airbus A321 of the airline Kogalymavia with 217 passengers and 7 crew members crashed on the way from Sharm el-Sheikh to Saint Petersburg over the Sinai Peninsula belonging to Egypt. None of the 224 occupants survived the crash (see also Kogalymavia flight 9268 ) .
- November 4 - An Antonov An-12 (EY-406) cargo plane registered in Tajikistan crashed around 800 meters past the runway at Juba Airport . The Asia Airways machine was flown on behalf of Allied Services Limited (a logistics company based in South Sudan) by a crew consisting of five Armenians and one Russian . The manufacturer Antonov announced in a press release that the machine was not airworthy because important maintenance events had not been carried out. According to government information, 37 people were killed in the crash. One child in the machine survived. According to the loading papers, the maximum loading capacity of 15.5 tonnes was exhausted; in addition, the machine was not allowed to be used to transport people.
2016
- (A) January 8 - A cargo plane of the type Bombardier CRJ 200-PF of West Air Sweden crashed near the Akkajaure -Stausees near the Norwegian from the border in northern Sweden. Both pilots were killed (see also West Air Sweden flight 294 ) .
- (A) February 2 - Shortly after taking off from Mogadishu for Djibouti , a passenger detonated a bomb, the explosion of whichtorea hole in the hull of the Airbus A321-100 . The assassin was sucked out of the cabin and died, two passengers were injured. The pilots made an emergency landing in Mogadishu (see also Daallo Airlines flight 159 ) .
- (A) Feb. 24 - A twin-engine turboprop machine of the type Viking Air DHC-6-400 Twin Otter the airline Tara Air (9N-AHH) was the domestic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom in Nepal flew into a mountain ridge. All terrain warnings from the Ground Proximity Warning System were deliberately ignored by the captain as he considered them to be excessive. All 23 occupants were killed (see also Tara Air flight 193 ) .
- March 9 - An Antonov An-26 B freighter of True Aviation (S2-AGZ) crashed while attempting a go- around three km west of Cox's Bazar airport . Before that, the take-off had been continued on one engine despite the loss of thrust. - (A) May 19 - An A320 with 56 passengers and ten crew members on board crashedinto the Mediterraneanon its way from Paris to Cairo . All 66 occupants were killed (see also Egypt Air flight 804 ) .
- (A) July 1 - An Ilyushin Il-76 belonging to the Russian Civil Protection Ministry crashed near Irkutsk during a fire fighting operation . All 10 people on board were killed (see also the crash of the Il-76 RA-76840 "Nikolai Kamanin" ) .
- July 20 - A Cessna 208 seaplane crashed into a bridge in Shanghai . Of the 10 occupants, 5 died on this flight, which should have opened a new route for AVIC Joy General Aviation .
- (A) August 3rd - A Boeing 777-300 of the airline Emirates with the flight number EK521 from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala / India to Dubai , United Arab Emirates had an accident while landing in Dubai. All 300 people on board the Boeing 777 survived the crash landing and were evacuated, 13 people were injured. A firefighter from the airport fire department was fatally injured during the subsequent extinguishing work (see also Emirates flight 521 ) .
- October 21 - In sub-zero temperatures and bad weather, the Mi-8 of the Russian airline Skol with the registration number RA-22869 crashed in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in northern Russia . Three surviving passengers from a total of 22 occupants of the helicopter could be brought to a hospital after the site of the crash was found due to an emergency call from a passenger.
- (A) October 24 - A Fairchild Metroliner crashed at 7:20 a.m. local time shortly after taking off at Malta Airport . All five occupants of the machine died. This was used on behalf of the French customs to control the people smugglers route from the Libyan coast to Europe. All victims were French citizens (see also CAE Aviation Flight 77 ) .
- (A) November 29, around 3 a.m. UTC (November 28 local time, around 10 p.m.) - An Avro RJ85 operated by the Bolivian airline LaMia Bolivia (CP-2933) flewinto a mountainnear its destination Medellín , Colombia, due to a lack of fuel. Of the 73 passengers and four crew members, only six survived (see also LaMia flight 2933 ) .
- (A) December 5 - A cargo plane type Swearingen SA227-AC Metro III of Key Lime Air (N765FA) crashed in Camilla , Georgia from where the pilot on board was killed. Despite the warnings from the air traffic controller, who had suggested an alternative flight route, the pilot had flown into a thunderstorm zone, which led to a loss of control. The structural load limits of the machine were exceeded, which then broke up and fell to the ground (see also Key Lime Air flight 308 ) .
- (A) Dec. 7 - A machine of the type ATR-42 (AP BHO) of Pakistan International Airlines crashed near the town of Havelian in northeastern Pakistan. There were no survivors among the 48 people on board (42 passengers, five crew members and a technician) (see also Pakistan International Airlines Flight 661 ) .
- December 20 - At the airport in the Colombian city of Puerto Carreño, an Aerosucre Colombia Boeing 727-200 broke through the barrier at the end of the runway during takeoff. The plane took off anyway, but then crashed about five miles from the airport and burned out. Of the six inmates, only one survived the crash.
2017
- (A) 16 January - A cargo aircraft of the type Boeing 747-400 of Turkish Airlines ( aircraft mark TC-MCL ) crashed yet unknown reason in dense fog in a residential area close to the airport Manas in Bishkek , Kyrgyzstan decreases. At least 39 people were killed, four crew members and 35 people on the ground (see also Turkish Airlines flight 6491 ) .
- March 28 - A Peruvian Airlines Boeing 737-300 (OB-2036-P) swerved right on landing in Jauja , Peru and came off the runway. All 141 passengers could be evacuated, but the machine burned out completely.
- May 5 - A Short 330-200 of the US cargo airline Air Cargo Carriers (N334AC) coming from Louisville had an accident while landing at Charleston-Yeager Airport ( West Virginia , USA). After a greatly shortened approach with an incline of up to 42 ° , the aircraft hit the left edge of the runway very hard, with the left wing breaking off and hurling it into uneven terrain. Above all, the captain, who was constantly assigned to the co-pilot, had already attracted attention several times due to deliberate deviations from and disregard of safety regulations as well as insufficient ability to fly blind. The two pilots, the only occupants, were killed. It was the fifth total loss of aircraft of the Shorts family at this airline, in which the complete lack of security programs was found.
- May 27 - An unsuccessful attempt to land a Let L-410 (9N-AKY) cargo aircraft of the Nepalese Summit Air with three people on board occurred at Lukla Airport ( Nepal ) . Due to a stall , the machine collided with trees and crashed into a mound in the sloping terrain shortly before the runway. The captain and co-pilot were fatally injured and the third person survived the accident. The cargo flight had started in Kathmandu .
- April 29 - An Antonov An-26 of the Cuban airline Aerogaviota (CU-T1406) had an accident with eight people on board, all officers of the Cuban armed forces . Everyone was killed. Coming from the Playa Baracoa (Municipio Bauta ) airfield on the western outskirts of Havana , the machine hit the Loma de la Pimienta mountain in the municipality of Candelaria, around 70 km from the capital .
- Oct. 26 - A Mil Mi-8 of Konvers Avia (RA-22312) crashed with three Arctic researchers and five-man crew before Spitsbergen into the sea. The probability of survival for the people on board was zero in the ice water.
- (A) December 13 - An ATR 42 -300 of West Wind Aviation (C-GWEA) crashed shortly after taking off from Canadian Fond-du-Lac from. All 22 passengers and three crew members survived the actual accident, but one passenger died two weeks later as a result of the crash. The aircraft was not de-iced from the approach despite the remaining ice accumulation. On December 22nd, the Canadian civil aviation authority temporarily revoked the airline's operating license (see also West Wind Aviation Flight 280 ) .
2018
- January 13 - A Boeing 737-800 passenger aircraft operated by Turkish Pegasus Airlines ( aircraft registration TC-CPF , flight 8622) slid down a slope after landing at Trabzon Airport . The plane came to a halt shortly before contact with the waters of the Black Sea . All 162 passengers and the six crew members were uninjured, but the right engine was torn off and the aircraft was badly damaged.
- January 15 - An Airbus A319 of the Libyan Afriqiyah Airways (5A-ONC) was damaged by artillery shells in the upper part of the fuselage during fighting at Mitiga International Airport near Tripoli, causing a total write-off. People were not harmed.
- (A) Feb. 11 - A passenger aircraft of type Antonov An-148 of Saratov Airlines (RA-61704) crashed six minutes after taking off from Moscow 's Domodedovo airport during heavy snowfall 70km south-east of Moscow in the village Argunowo, in the district Ramenski from. Seven or eight-year-old Antonov was on her way to the city of Orsk near the border with Kazakhstan . All 71 people on board (65 passengers and 6 crew members) were killed. The cause was the failure to switch on the heating of the altitude and speed sensors, whereupon they iced up and incorrect displays appeared in the cockpit (see also Saratov Airlines flight 703 ) .
- (A) February 18 - An ATR 72-200 of Iran Aseman Airlines (EP-ATS) collidedwith a mountain about an hour and 27 minutes after take-offon the flight from Tehran- Mehrabad to Yasudsch in southwestern Iran. The pilots had continued the descent below the approved altitude of 17,000 feet and the minimum safe altitude of 15,500 feet until they entered Mount Dena at an altitude of 13,120 feet . All 66 occupants (60 passengers and 6 crew members) were killed (see also Iran-Aseman-Airlines-Flight 3704 ) .
- February 28 - On an Airbus A320-214 of the Estonian SmartLynx Airlines Estonia (ES-SAN) both engines failed and the flight control system largely failed on a training flight at Tallinn Airport ( Estonia ). In the case of a touch-and-go , the aircraft no longer responded to control commands, but took off anyway, only to hit the runway hard 200 meters before the end. Both engines were badly damaged; the machine rose again steeply and after a complete failure of the pitch control of all flight control computers (SEC and ELAC) could only be controlled by trimming the horizontal stabilizer. Engine 2 (right) began to burn. The aircraft climbed uncontrollably to an altitude of 480 meters (1590 feet) and then went into a dive, which could only be trimmed at 180 meters (596 feet) height. After reaching an altitude of 400 meters (1300 feet), the right engine failed completely, 20 seconds later the left engine also failed, followed by the normal power supply. Nevertheless, the pilots managed to crash-land in the snow to the left of the runway. All seven crew members, the only occupants, survived. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair. The main causes identified were a "weakness" in part of the flight control programming and another serious error in the logic of the SECs (Spoiler Elevator Computer).
- (A) March 12 - A De Havilland DHC-8-400 ( S2-AGU )passenger planecameoff the runwaywhile landing at Kathmandu Airport in Nepal , crashed onto a soccer field, and then caught fire. 51 people were killed and 20 others injured (see also US Bangla Airlines flight 211 ) .
- (A) April 11 - An Ilyushin Il-76 of the Algerian Air Force (7T-WIB or -WIP) crashedinto a fieldshortly after take-off at Boufarik airport and burned out. At least 257 people were killed (see also plane crash near Boufarik ) .
- April 17 - An engine of a Boeing 737-700 operated by Southwest Airlines (N772SW) exploded in flight. Debris destroyed a window and killed a woman on board the machine.
- (A) May 18 - One of the Mexican Global Air borrowed Boeing 737-200 Advanced (XA UHZ) with 113 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff from Havana on a field and caught fire. Only one passenger survived seriously injured, all other 112 people on board were killed (see also Cubana flight 972 ) .
- July 10 - A Convair CV-340 from Rovos Air (ZS-BRV) crashed after taking off from Pretoria Wonderboom Airport (South Africa) on a test flight 6 km from the airport after problems with the left engine. There were 20 aircraft occupants on board, including 3 crew members. One crew member was killed and four people seriously injured; the plane was destroyed. The aircraft had been painted in the historic colors of Martin's Air Charter and was to be transferred to the Aviodrome Aircraft Museum in Lelystad, Netherlands.
- (A) July 31 - An Embraer 190 of Aeroméxico Connect (XA-GAL) crashed at the flight from Durango to Mexico City. All 103 occupants survived the accident, 85 people were injured, 49 people were admitted to hospitals (see also Aeroméxico Connect flight 2431 ) .
- (A) August 4th - A Ju 52 / 3m g4e of Ju-Air (HB-HOT) crashed on Piz Segnas ( Switzerland ) at an altitude of about 2540 meters (8330 feet). The machine was destroyed, all 20 occupants were killed (see also the crash of the Junkers Ju 52 HB-HOT ) .
- (A) August 10 - At Seattle-Tacoma Airport , a ground worker hijacked an empty De Havilland DHC-8-400 passenger planefrom Alaska Airlines' subsidiary Horizon Air (N449QX) and crashed it onto an uninhabited island in Puget Sound (see also theft and crash of a De Havilland DHC-8-400 of Horizon Air ) .
- Sept. 1 - A Boeing 737-8AS of UTair (VQ BVI) on all landing at the airport of Sochi on the runway end addition. The left engine caught fire and the aircraft was destroyed. All inmates survived, with 18 injured. A ground worker was killed with a heart attack while the rescue was in progress .
- September 28 - A Boeing 737-800 of Air Niugini with the air vehicle registration P2-PXE missed the Airport Chuuk ( Micronesia the runway) and ended up in a lagoon. One passenger was killed and the other 46 people on board were saved.
- (A) October 29 - A Boeing 737 MAX 8 operated by the Indonesian low-cost airline Lion Air (PK-LQP) with 189 people on board crashed thirteen minutes after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta. It was the first total loss of a Boeing 737 of the MAX family (see also Lion Air flight 610 ) .
- Nov. 7 - A Boeing 747-400F of Sky Lease Cargo ( N908AR ) on the flight from Chicago rolled over upon landing at the airport Halifax ( Nova Scotia the end of the 2347-meter-long runway 14 about 210 meters). The landing took place in light rain and a tailwind component of 8 knots. The four-man crew of the freighter was only slightly injured, but the machine was irreparably damaged.
- December 20 - An Antonov AN-26 of Gomair (9S-AGB) with 7 (according to other reports 8) crew members on board, which was under way on behalf of the Central Electoral National Independent Commission (CENI), had an accident shortly before for a previously unknown cause the approach to runway 06 at Ndjili Airport ( DR Congo ), killing everyone on board. No search was started by the authorities, but the machine was found about 24 hours later by locals who confirmed the death of the crew.
2019
- January 14th - A Boeing 707-3J9C of the Iranian Saha Air ( aircraft registration EP-CPP ) landed on a cargo flight from Bishkek instead of in Karaj on the Fath airfield, 10 kilometers away, whose runway is around 1130 meters usable for the Machine was too short. The speed control of the left engine had already failed temporarily on the outbound flight. This happened again on the return flight; During the descent, the right engine misfires and pumps, whereupon it was switched off. Shortly thereafter, the left engine also started to misfire, pump and lose power. The amount could not be kept, and the machine struck about 20 kilometers east of the district of Bay Harbor Islands Miami ( Florida ) in the sea on. The first officer was found alive and the captain has been missing since then.
- (A) Feb. 23 - A Boeing 767-300ER (BCF) (N1217A) of Atlas Air , on behalf of Amazon Prime Air from Miami to Houston flew, crashed after a steep descent near the Texas town of Anahuac on impact with the water surface of Trinity Bay . The entire three-person crew was killed (see also Atlas Air flight 3591 ) .
- March 9 - A Douglas DC-3 of LASER Aéro Colombia (HK-2494) crashed at 10:40 am local time under unknown circumstances on a rural gravel road near Villavicencio . The fuselage in front of the wings was completely destroyed by the fire after the impact. All 14 inmates were killed.
- (A) March 10 - A Boeing 737 MAX 8 of Ethiopian Airlines (ET-AAR) crashed shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa en route to Nairobi from. All 157 occupants were killed (see also Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 ) .
- April 14th - A Let L-410 from Summit Air (9N-AMH) took off at Tenzing-Hillary Airport from Lukla towards Ramechhap . During the take-off run on the sloping runway, the machine swerved and crashed into two parked helicopters. The co-pilot of the Let and two people died on the ground in the accident. The machine was a total write-off.
- (A) May 3 - A Boeing 737-800 of Miami Air International (N732MA) with seven crew members and 136 passengers on board fired on the flight GL 293 from Leeward Point Field in Guantanamo Bay , Cuba to Jacksonville , Florida on the runway of Jacksonville Naval Air Station ( IATA : NIP, ICAO : KNIP) and crashed into a river. The aircraft was badly damaged, 21 occupants were injured (see also Miami Air flight 293 ) .
- (A) A - May 5 Sukhoi Superjet 100-95B of Aeroflot (RA-89098) had shortly after takeoff at the airport Sheremetyevo because of a lightning strike to return to the airport. The first approach was canceled, the second ended in a crash landing in which the aircraft went up in flames. Of the 78 occupants, 37 survived and 41 perished (see also Aeroflot flight 1492 ).
- (A) May 8 - A De Havilland DHC-8 operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines (S2-AGQ) had an accident while landing in Rangoon , Myanmar . All 33 occupants survived the accident with minor injuries, in which the aircraft broke into three parts (see also Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight 60 ) .
- June 27 - With an Antonov An-24 of the Angara Airlines (RA-47366) was in Nizhneangarsk in the Russian autonomous republic of Buryatia made an emergency landing after an engine failure. The machine came off the runway and collided with the buildings of a water treatment plant. Of the 47 people on board, two did not survive the accident, the commander and the flight engineer .
- (A) August 15 - An Airbus A321 operated by Ural Airlines (VQ-BOZ) collidedwith a flock of birdsshortly after taking off from Moscow-Zhukovsky Airport , causing both engines to fail. - September 11th - A Convair CV-440 (N24DR) registered for a private operator had an accident while approaching Toledo Express Airport in Ohio ( USA ). The cargo plane crashed 1 kilometer from the runway on its approach. The two people on board were killed.
- October 11 - A Fokker 50 from Silverstone Air Services (5Y-IZO) rolled over the end of the runway by 300 meters when taking off at Nairobi-Wilson Airport ( Kenya ) and came to a standstill in marshy terrain between some trees. All 55 occupants, 5 crew members and 50 passengers survived the accident; 2 passengers were slightly injured. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
- October 17 - A Saab 2000 from PenAir (N686PA) with 39 passengers and three crew members on board shot over the runway when landing at Unalaska Airport ( Alaska ) and only came to a halt immediately in front of the bank of the Bering Sea . During the sliding phase, at least one propeller blade on the left engine broke off and penetrated the cabin. One passenger was seriously injured and one killed. Ten other passengers were slightly injured and taken to the hospital in Dutch Harbor . The seriously injured man was flown to Anchorage , where the machine came from. The machine landed in light rain on the wet runway with a tail wind of up to 27 knots.
- October 18 - A Douglas DC-3 C of the airline Atlantic Air Cargo (N437GB) landed in the water 4 kilometers in front of it on its way from Opa-locka Airport ( Florida ) on its approach to Nassau Airport ( Bahamas ) and sank. The two pilots of the cargo flight survived the mishap with the 65-year-old aircraft.
- November 24 - A Dornier 228-200 of the airline Busy Bee Congo (9S-GNH) had an accident shortly after take-off from Goma Airport , Democratic Republic of the Congo. The plane crashed on buildings in the Birere district south of the airport and went up in flames. 26 people were killed in the accident: 17 passengers, the 2 pilots and 7 people on the ground.
- (A) December 27 - A Fokker 100 of Bek Air (UP-F1007) crashed at the Almaty airport . The machine sagged again shortly after take off and broke through a concrete wall behind the runway before it collided with a building. Of the 95 passengers and five crew members, twelve died (see also Bek Air flight 2100 ) .
2020
- (A) January 8 - A Boeing 737-800 of Ukraine International Airlines had an accident shortly after taking off from Tehran's Imam Khomeini airport after a rocket fire. There were 176 people on board (167 passengers and 9 crew members). There were no survivors (see also Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 ) .
- January 14th - A Boeing 777 operated by Delta Airlines (USA) had engine problems after taking off from Los Angeles and had to turn back. The machine was drained of fuel over an area with schools about 20 km east of the airport. She was fully fueled for a 14-hour flight. More than 40 people outdoors, including many elementary school students, were injured and complained of respiratory and skin irritation.
- On January 23, 2020, an American fire fighting aircraft of the type EC-130Q of the US American Coulson Aviation (N134CG) crashed over the Peak View area northeast of Cooma , New South Wales , Australia during fire fighting . The 3 crew members died.
- (A) February 5 - When landing at Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen Airport , a Boeing 737-800 of Pegasus Airlines touched down on the runway very late in heavy rain and slid beyond the end of the runway into a boundary wall of the airport site. The fuselage broke in two places and an engine caught fire. Three people were killed and 179 injured in the accident (see also Pegasus Airlines flight 2193 ) .
- (A) May 22 - An Airbus A320-214 operated by Pakistan International Airlines crashedinto a residential areawhile approaching Karachi / Jinnah International Airport . 97 of the 99 occupants were killed (see also Pakistan International Airlines flight 8303 ) .
- (A) August 7 - An Air India Express Boeing 737-800rolled over the end of the runway while landing at Calicut International Airport near Kozhikode and broke behind the cockpit, destroying the front fuselage section. Both pilots and 16 passengers were killed and over 100 others injured. 184 passengers and 6 crew members were on board the machine coming from Dubai. According to initial findings, the aircraft landed with a tailwind of around 12 knots andonly 100 meters behind the end of the touchdown zonein heavy monsoon rain (see also Air India Express flight 1344 ) . Min. 15 dead.
