2019
- November 20: A US AH-64D Apache helicopter crashed in Lugar Province in eastern Afghanistan, with initial reports mentioning that the helicopter's rotor hit a ridge, which would rule out enemy fire. Both crew members died in the crash. The Taliban claimed they shot him down but mentioned a different model, which is why the US rejected the Taliban's claims.
- October 15: A Mil Mi-17 helicopter of the Afghan army crashed due to technical defects on the outskirts of Mazar-i-Sharif. At least 7 Afghan military personnel were killed in the accident.
- May 25: A CH-47F Chinook helicopter crashed in Helmand Province . Several people were injured in the incident.
2018
- October 30: An Afghan army helicopter crashed in Farah province. A senior Afghan commander was killed in the incident, along with others.
2017
- October 27: An MH-47G Chinook helicopter crashed near Lugar province . The pilot did not survive the crash.
2016
- March 29: An F-16 fighter plane crashed near Bagram Air Base . The pilot was able to leave the machine in time.
2015
- October 11: A Westland Puma HC Mk 2 helicopter crashed while pilots attempted to land at NATO Resolute Support HQ in Kabul , killing 5 of the 10 people on board. The victims included two British and two US soldiers, as well as an accompanying French civilian.
- October 2: A Dyess Air Force Base C-130J, stationed at Bagram Air Base , crashed immediately after takeoff at Jalalabad Airfield, killing all 11 crew members. In addition, two people lost their lives on the ground.
2014
- June 9: A NATO helicopter crashed in the Pachir Wagam district of Nangarhar province , killing two American soldiers.
- May 28: An ISAF crew member died on May 28, 2014 in a Black Hawk crash in southern Afghanistan. The crew lost control of the helicopter when it hit a cell tower in the Marouf district of Kandahar Province . Thirteen other crew members were injured.
- April 26: Five NATO soldiers were killed when a British helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan. These figures have been confirmed by NATO-led coalition forces and the UK Ministry of Defense.
- January 10: Two US soldiers and one other inmate died when they crashed with their machine, an RC-12 Guardrail, near Bagram Air Base .
2013
- December 17: Six US soldiers were killed when their UH-60 Black Hawk crashed in southern Afghanistan (near Zabul province ). This has been confirmed by employees of the US Army and those responsible within NATO . One person who was on board the helicopter was found alive.
- June 11: A helicopter of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) led by NATO had to make an emergency landing in the southern province of Kandahar .
- May 19: A US Army C-130J Super Hercules was badly damaged while returning from Kandahar from a medical evacuation mission. The right wing and one engine hit the runway and were badly damaged.
- 3 May: A Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker the US Army crashed in Kyrgyzstan shortly after the start. All three crew members died.
- April 27: A US Army USAF MC-12 Liberty aircraft crashed in Shahjoi District, Zabul Province , approximately 177 kilometers (110 miles) northeast of Kandahar Airport. Four NATO soldiers died.
- April 9: A US AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed in the Pachir Agam district of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan. Two US soldiers lost their lives.
- April 3: An F-16 fighter aircraft of the US Army crashed near the Bagram Airfield in Parwan province on the eastern part of Afghanistan. The pilot of the machine died.
- March 16: A US Army OH-58 Kiowa helicopter crashed in Daman District, Kandahar Province . One US soldier died while another was injured.
- March 11: A US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Daman district in Kandahar province . 5 American soldiers were killed in the crash.
- February 7: A US Army OH-58 Kiowa helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan, but no crew member was seriously injured.
2012
- OCTOBER 1: In the province of Zabul , in the southern part of Afghanistan collapsed CH-47 Chinook helicopter of the US Army from. The ISAF rules out any outside interference on the part of the Taliban.
- September 15: A C-130 Hercules and six USMC VMA-211 AV-8B Harrier II fighter jets were destroyed or irreparably damaged during an attack on Camp Bastion. This was the US's largest aircraft loss since the Vietnam War. Two VMA-211 Marines lost their lives in the attack.
- September 11: Three members of the Afghan National Army were killed after their helicopter was hit by ammunition shot down from Bagram Air Base .
- August 29: A UH-1Y Bell UH-1Y Venom helicopter belonging to the HMLA-369 (Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369) crashed in Helmand Province . Two Australian soldiers lost their lives in the accident.
- August 27: A CH-47 Chinook helicopter landed too hard in eastern Logar province. The twin-engine helicopter was badly damaged, so the crew destroyed it before being evacuated from the scene of the accident.
- August 16: A Black Hawk Sikorsky UH-60 of the US Army is in a gun battle in the Shah Wali Kot district in Kandahar province crashed. Seven American soldiers and four Afghan nationals died in the crash.
July 18: A NATO helicopter crashed in western Afghanistan, injuring two soldiers serving in the US-led military coalition.
- June 21: A US Army helicopter crashed in Khost Province in southeastern Afghanistan .
- June 6: An OH-58 Kiowa of US Army crashed in Ghazni province from where both soldiers lost their lives in the machine.
- MAY 28: An Apache AH-64 of the US Army crashed during a routine flight in the Wardak province from. No enemy activity was recorded in the area. Both crew members were killed in the incident.
- April 19: A US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was shot down in Helmand province . At least four US soldiers were recovered dead from the wreckage of the helicopter.
- March 16: A Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk of the Turkish Army crashed in Kabul. All twelve Turkish soldiers, two Afghan interpreters and three civilians were killed on the ground.
- February 6: An AH-64 Apache of the US Army crashed without there was injured. A video of the incident was posted on the internet 6 weeks later.
- JANUARY 19: A CH-53 Sea Stallion of the US Army crashed in southern Afghanistan. Six ISAF officers were killed.
2011
- September 28: An AH-1W SuperCobra crashed in Helmand Province during take-off. A member of the USMC died.
- August 8: A CH-47 crashed in the Paktia province . There were no losses.
- August 6: A CH-47 was shot down with an RPG in Wardak province . 38 soldiers (7 Afghans and 31 Americans) were killed.
- July 25: A CH-47F Chinook was shot down with RPGs near Camp Nangalam in Kunar Province. Two coalition soldiers were injured.
- July 7: A NATO helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan. There were no reports of injuries.
- June 24th: A NATO helicopter crash landed in Helmand.
- JUNE 15: A Mi-17 of the Afghan army rushed in the province of Kunar from where six people were injured.
- June 10: An Aérospatiale SA 341/342 Gazelle crashed around 20 kilometers north of Bagram. The reason given was the bad weather. One soldier died and one was seriously injured.
- June 5: An OH-58 Kiowa crashed in the Sabari district of Khost province. The Taliban said they shot down the helicopter. Two soldiers died.
- MAY 30: A CH-47D Chinook of the Australian Army crashed in Zabul province 90 km east of Tarin Kowt from. The helicopter caught fire. One person on board died and five others were slightly injured.
- May 24: A NATO helicopter crashed in western Afghanistan. There were no reports of wounded.
- May 24: A French Dassault Mirage 2000D crashed 100 kilometers west of Farah. Both crew members were rescued.
- May 15: A Canadian CH-47D Chinook toppled on its side on landing. Four Canadian soldiers were injured. The accident happened during a night mission on the Horn of Panjwaii.
- May 11: An Afghan National Army Mi-17 crashed in Nuristan province , injuring nine soldiers. The cause of the accident was the collision with a tree.
- May 2: A Sikorsky MH-60 , converted to invade enemy territory unnoticed, crashed in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The helicopter had flown troops from the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group to the Osama bin Laden estate. The helicopter was destroyed at the end of the operation to protect secret equipment. The remains of the wreck were handed over from Pakistan to the USA a few weeks later.
- April 23: An OH-58 Kiowa crashed in Kapisa Province . The pilot was killed, the co-pilot was injured. According to official reports, the plane had touched a cable, but the Taliban claim the deal for themselves.
- FEBRUARY 4: A Eurocopter Tiger of the French army collapsed in the district Lateh from tape.
- January 26th: A Polish Mi-24V Hind crash-landed due to mechanical problems after take-off in Ghazni province .
2010
- November 28: A Dassault Rafale of the French Navy crashed in Pakistan. The aircraft operated from the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle , which supported NATO operations in Afghanistan. The pilot was able to get out with the ejection seat and survived.
- August 19: Eight NATO soldiers were injured when their helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan.
- Aug 10: A Royal Air Force CH-47D Chinook crashed in Helmand province. Daud Ahmadi, the provincial press spokesman, said: "The helicopter crashed due to technical problems in the Gereschk district at 4:00 am local time, injuring a soldier." According to NATO, all four people on board were rescued “safe and sound”.
- August 5: A Canadian CH-47D Chinook was shot down in Kandahar province . The wreck burned out. Eight soldiers were wounded.
- July 26: A CH-47 Chinook crashed in the Pul-e-Charkhi area. Two NATO soldiers were killed.
- JULY 22: An AH-1W Super Cobra the USMC was shot down in Helmand province, where pilot and gunner died.
- June 25: An ISAF helicopter crash-landed in Kunar province . The reason given was mechanical problems. No casualties were reported.
- June 23: An RAF Merlin Mk3 crashed into a FOB in the Laschkar Gah area , Helmand province. There were no serious injuries and the incident was declared non-hostile. A USMC CH-53E was used to transport it back to Camp Bastion .
- June 21: A UH-60 Blackhawk crashed in northern Kandahar province. Three Australian commanders and one US soldier were killed. Seven Australians and one American were also injured.
- May 21: A British Westland Sea King was hit by an RPG in the Nad-e Ali area, Helmand province and crashed. None of the five people on board were seriously injured.
- May 14: A UH-60 Black Hawk crash-landed in Kandahar province, injuring several Afghan army and coalition soldiers. The wreck was destroyed by ISAF forces to prevent it from falling into enemy hands.
- May 10: An MH-60 Black Hawk had to make an emergency landing after being shot at in Helmand Province. All crew members were able to return to the base. The helicopter was abandoned and destroyed on the spot by coalition associations.
- April 9: A CV-22 Osprey crashed near Qalat , Zabul province , killing three U.S. soldiers and a civilian government employee. It is the first Osprey loss in combat.
- MARCH 31: An E-2 Hawkeye of the US Navy on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) crashed after a mission over Afghanistan to the Arabian Sea. Three crew members could be rescued, one crew member could not be rescued and was pronounced dead.
- March 28: A UH-60 Black Hawk crashed in Zabul Province . A total of 14 ISAF soldiers and Afghan soldiers were injured.
- March 23rd: A Turkish UH-60 Black Hawk had technical problems landing in Midan Shar, Wardak. The helicopter hit a hill and fell on its side.
2009
- December 3: A Polish Mil Mi-24 was damaged in an emergency landing at Ghazni Airfield. There were no serious injuries.
- October 26: An MH-47G Chinook crashed in Badghis Province due to poor visibility during take-off. Seven US soldiers and three DEA agents died. 14 Afghans, 11 US soldiers and one DEA agent were injured.
- October 26: Two US UH-1N Twin Huey and AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters collided in the air in southern Afghanistan, killing four US Marines and two ISAF soldiers.
- October 17: A Sikorsky UH-60 crashed while searching for the missing C-12 Huron since October 13 . There were no injuries.
- October 13: A C-12 Huron crashed in Nuristan Province . The remains were not found until October 19. The crew, consisting of 3 civilian employees, died.
- October 8: An Antonov An-32 (354) of the Afghan army crashed while landing in southwestern Afghanistan.
- August 30: An RAF CH-47 Chinook (ZA673) crash-landed in the Sangin area of Helmand province and was badly damaged. The 19 people on board were not injured.
- August 25: An F / A-18C Hornet caught fire and burned out at Kandahar Air Base .
- August 20: A British CH-47 Chinook (ZA709) was shot down in the Sangin area of Helmand province. The crew survived.
- August 6th: A Polish Mi-24V Hind had to make an emergency landing on the way from Ghazni to Kabul after being shot at. There were no injuries.
- July 20: An RAF GR4 tornado crashed at Kandahar Air Base during take-off. Both pilots were injured.
- July 18: An F-15E Strike Eagle crashed in central Afghanistan. Both crew members died.
- July 7: A Canadian CH-146 Griffon crashed in Zabul, killing three coalition soldiers.
- May 22: An AH-64 Apache crashed near the city of Tarin Kowt in Uruzgan province. One crew member was killed.
- May 14: A British Harrier GR9 crashed in Kandahar at 10:30 am local time. The pilot probably suffered only minor injuries.
- January 17: A CH-47 Chinook crashed in eastern Afghanistan. The helicopter was shot at with small arms. A US soldier died.
- January 16: A UH-60 Black Hawk crashed on the outskirts of Kabul. There were no dead.
- January 15: An Afghan army Mi-17 crashed in the Adraskan district of Herat province , killing 13 people. Among them was General Fazaludin Sayar, the regional commander for the western part of Afghanistan. The government cited bad weather as the cause of the crash, while the Taliban said they shot down the helicopter.
2008
- October 27: A UH-60 Black Hawk was shot down in Wardak Province. There were no dead. The Taliban claimed to have shot down the helicopter using RPGs . The ten soldiers were saved.
- October 21: A United States Navy P-3 Orion reconnaissance aircraft rolled over the runway at Bagram Air Base . The plane caught fire and was destroyed. There was one injured. The aircraft belonged to PATWING 5 of Naval Air Station Brunswick and was assigned to CTF-57 in Afghanistan.
- SEPTEMBER 4: An Apache AH.1 the British Army Air Corps crashed shortly after takeoff in Helmand province from. The two crew members were uninjured.
- July 2: A UH-60 Black Hawk was shot down by RPGs and handguns in Logar province. There were no injuries. The wreck was later destroyed.
- June 25: A coalition helicopter crashed in Kunar province, leaving two soldiers on board lightly injured.
- June 5: An OH-58 Kiowa from the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, crashed at Kandahar Army Airfield during a test flight. 2 soldiers died.
2007
- December 10: An Afghan army Mi-17 crashed in thick fog 70 km southwest of Kabul. Three people were recovered dead from the wreck.
- September 25: A Spanish Eurocopter AS332 SAR helicopter was damaged during a MedEvac mission. The rotors were damaged as a result of a failed landing. The helicopter was abandoned and destroyed on the spot.
- 23 August: An RAF C-130 Hercules crash-landed during the night. The C-130 was badly damaged and could not be repaired. British pioneers destroyed the wreck to keep it from falling into enemy hands. There were no losses.
- August 21: An Italian Bell 212 had to make an emergency landing, injuring three Italian soldiers.
- August 10: A CH-47 Chinook (83-24123) collided with another CH-47D (84-24182) on the floor of Bagram Air Base and was badly damaged. There were no dead. The helicopter was abandoned.
- May 30: A CH-47 Chinook was shot down in Sangin Valley, killing five Americans, one British and one Canadian. Shelling from handguns and RPGs has been cited as the cause of the crash, but there have been reports that fire from heat-seeking missiles has been reported.
- February 18: An MH-47 Chinook from the 2-160th SOAR crashed in Zabul Province . Of the 22 US soldiers on board, eight died and 14 were wounded.
2006
- September 2: A British BAe Nimrod MR.2 crashed near Kandahar. 14 crew members died.
- August 31: A Dutch F-16A Block 20 MLU crashed near Ghazni, killing the pilot.
- July 2: An AH-64 Apache crashed outside Kandahar Air Base. The pilot (CW3 William Timothy Flanigan) died. The shooter was injured.
- June 11: A CH-47 Chinook (91-0497) had to make an emergency landing in Helmand Province. Coalition forces destroyed the helicopter with the help of an air strike.
- May 24: An RAF C-130 Hercules (XV206) crash-landed when it landed on an airfield outside the town of Laschkar Gar . Everyone on board survived. The plane burned out.
- April 28th: An AH-64 Apache crashed north of Qalat. The pilot survived slightly injured, while the shooter (Daniel McConnell) lost his right arm.
2005
- December 4: A CH-47 Chinook (91-00269) was attacked with handguns, damaged by them and had to make an emergency landing. There were two wounded. The helicopter burned out.
- October 31: A Dutch CH-47D Chinook (D-104) crash-landed. There were some wounded. The helicopter was destroyed by Dutch forces after they cannibalized the wreck.
- OCTOBER 14: A Harrier GR7A the Royal Air Force was destroyed in Kandahar at the bottom by a rocket attack and another damaged. There were no injuries. The damaged Harrier was repaired on the airfield, the destroyed one was replaced that same evening.
- October 7th: An MH-47E Chinook (BuNo 89-00160) of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment was destroyed in an accident. There were no serious injuries.
- September 25: Five US soldiers died when a CH-47 Chinook crashed in Zabul province .
- September 10: An Afghan army Mi-17 crashed in Panjshir Valley after a commemoration to mark the fourth anniversary of the assassination of rebel commander Ahmad Shah Massoud . Two passengers on board the helicopter were injured.
- August 16: 17 Spanish soldiers died when their Cougar AS532 crashed near Herat . A second Spanish helicopter had to make an emergency landing, and 5 other soldiers were wounded. The crash was declared an accident, despite witnesses testifying that they had been shot at.
- July 27th: A Dutch CH-47D Chinook (D-105) crashed as a result of a brownout . There were no injuries, but the helicopter was destroyed.
- June 28: A CH-47 Chinook was shot down in Kunar province , killing all 16 people on board. According to the US military, the helicopter was shot down by RPGs during a rescue mission.
- June 25: An RAF C-130 caught fire after landing near Laschkar Gah in Helmand. The new British ambassador to Afghanistan was on board the aircraft. No injuries were reported.
- June 22: A U-2 reconnaissance plane crashed at Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates after returning from a mission over Afghanistan. The pilot died.
- April 6: A CH-47 Chinook was caught in a sandstorm near Ghazni and crashed. 15 US soldiers and 3 civilians died.
2004
- December 16: An OH-58 Kiowa crashed north of Shindand, Herat Province . Both pilots were injured.
- October 20: An HH-60 Pave Hawk (BuNo N87-26014) crashed during an injured person evacuation (Med-Evac). There were four injured.
- August 29: A Dutch AH-64D Apache, designation Q-20, crashed near Kabulab , injuring a crew member.
- August 12: A UH-60 Black Hawk crashed near Khost in Gurbuz province, killing one soldier and injuring 14 others. The cause of the incident was technical failure.
- June 28: The crew of an AH-64D Apache survived an emergency landing north of Qalat with minor injuries. The helicopter caught fire and was completely destroyed.
2003
- December 6: A UH-1N Huey crashed at Camp Rhino.
- November 23: An MH-53 Pave Low crashed shortly after leaving Bagram, killing four crew members and one soldier.
- April 23: A CH-47 Chinook (N 90-0217) crash-lands in the Spin Boldak area . The crew survived.
- March 23: An HH-60 Pave Hawk crashed in Ghazni province , killing two Afghans and four Americans.
2002
- December 21: A Bundeswehr CH-53 GS crashed in Kabul, killing seven soldiers and several civilians.
- December 19: An F-16A Block 20 MLU rolled 500 meters above the runway in Bagram into a minefield. The Danish pilot survived.
- November 1: Two CH-47 Chinooks collided in Afghanistan. One of them crashed, the other could be repaired later.
- Aug 13: An HH-60 Pave Hawk crashed after evacuating an injured civilian in Urgan, injuring six people.
- June 12: An MC-130H Combat Talon crashed in eastern Afghanistan, killing three out of ten people on board.
- April 11th: An AH-64 Apache crashed northeast of Kandahar . The two pilots were injured. The helicopter was destroyed on the spot.
- March 4: Two CH-47 Chinooks were attacked from the ground during Operation Anaconda . Two soldiers from the first helicopter were shot by the enemy. The second CH-47 was shot down during a rescue attempt, killing four other soldiers.
- February 13: An MC-130P Shadow crashed in eastern Afghanistan. There were no losses.
- January 28: A CH-47 Chinook crashed in eastern Afghanistan due to a brownout. 16 soldiers were injured.
- January 20: A CH-53E crashed 40 miles south of Bagram Air Base. Two marines were killed.
- January 9: A Lockheed KC-130 crashed in Pakistan, killing seven Marines. The reason given was human error during a night landing.
2001
- December 12: After a mission over Afghanistan, a B-1 Lancer crashed on its return about 50 km north of Diego Garcia . The entire crew was saved.
- December 6: A UH-1N Huey crashed at Kandahar Air Base . Two marines were slightly injured.
- November 20: An MH-6 J crashed. There were four injured.
- November 2: An MH-53 Pave Low crashed during a commando operation in northern Afghanistan. Four wounded.
- October 19: A UH-60 Black Hawk crashed at Dalbandin Air Base in Pakistan due to a brownout. Two US Army rangers were killed.
Civil losses
- July 6, 2011: An Il-76 was destroyed when it flew into a mountain near Bagram.
- October 12, 2010: A Lockheed L-100 Hercules (leased from Transafrik, registration number 5X-TUC) flew into a mountain near Kabul. All eight crew members (six Filipinos, one Indian and one Kenyan) were killed.
- Jul 28, 2010: An Antonov An-12 crash-landed in Helmand Province. There were no injuries. The plane was destroyed.
- June 4, 2010: A Lockheed L-100 Hercules (leased from Transafrik, registration number S9-BAT) was badly damaged on landing in Sharana AB. Nobody got hurt.
- May 30, 2010: A Mi-8 crash-landed in Jaji District, Paktia Province . A civilian on the ground was killed by rubble. Three crew members were slightly injured.
- May 2, 2010: A civil helicopter of the type Mi-8 (EX-40008) chartered by NATO reported technical problems and crashed while attempting an emergency landing at Forward Operating Base Kalagush ( Nuristan ). All crew members could be rescued, passengers were not on board.
- April 25, 2010: A Bell 214 had to make an emergency landing in the province of Farah due to technical problems. There were no injuries. The helicopter was abandoned.
- March 1, 2010: An Airbus A300 leased by ACT Airlines from DHL, missed the runway at Bagram Airbase on landing. The plane was abandoned.
- November 23, 2009: A Mi-8 crashed in the province of Lugar . Three Ukrainians were killed. The helicopter belonged to Air Freight Aviation (UAE).
- July 19, 2009: A Mi-8 crashed at Kandahar Air Base, killing 16 people and injuring five. The helicopter belonged to the Russian company Vertical-T.
- July 14, 2009: A Mi-16 of Pectox-Air was shot down, the six Ukrainian crew members were killed.
- February 14, 2008: A Kazakh Il-76 operated by Asia Continental Airlines was damaged at Kandahar Airport .
- December 3, 2006: A Mi-16 used by the US security firm Dyncorp crashed, killing eight Russians. The helicopter belonged to the Vertical-T (Russia).
- July 27, 2006: A Mi-8 crashed on the way from Khost to Kabul . All 16 passengers on board, including two Dutch soldiers, died.
- April 24, 2006: An An-26 , leased by the United States Department of State to transport DEA agents , had an accident at Bost Airport in Laschkar Gah . The two Ukrainian pilots and two girls on the ground were killed. The pilot tried to avoid a truck when landing.
- November 11, 2005: A Georgian Il-76 operated by Global Georgian Airways , leased by Pakistani Royal Airlines Cargo , crashed near Khak-e-Shahidan about 30 km northwest of Kabul while it was carrying communications equipment for coalition soldiers. All eight crew members died.
- April 25, 2005: A Kazakh Antonov An-12 missed the runway at Kabul Airport . Five of the six crew members were slightly injured. The plane was abandoned.
- December 30, 2004: A Moldovan Il-76 of the airline Transport crashed at Kabul airport .
- November 27, 2004: A US CASA C-212 , leased by the US Department of Defense to supply US troops, crashed on Mount Baba. All six crew members were killed.
