1981
- (T) February 7 - Around 20 km south of Leningrad . A Tupolev Tu-104 of the Soviet Navy operated under the registration number CCCP-42332 crashed shortly after taking off from a height of about 50 m. The causes were the wrong allocation of seats for the passengers and the sliding of unsecured cargo. All 51 inmates perished.
1982
- July 29th - Großniedesheim , Rhineland-Palatinate . A low-flying starfighter of the Canadian Air Force collided with a small aircraft that was about to land at Worms Airfield, 5 km away . The two occupants of the small plane died. The jet pilot saved himself with the ejection seat. The jet crashed on Großniedesheim, and a person was killed on the ground.
- (T) August 20 - An Alouette III of the Swiss Air Force flew low into a high-voltage line near Büsserach , killing two people on board.
- (A) (T) September 11th - Mannheim . A CH-47 Chinook crashedonto the A 656 motorwayat an air show over the Mannheim airfield in Mannheim-Neuostheim. In this accident, 38 parachutists from Mannheim and the Mannheim twin cities of Toulon , France, and Swansea , Wales, as well as 3 US soldiers and 5 US crew members were killed (see also helicopter crash in Mannheim 1982 ) .
- (T) October 21 - An Alouette III of the Swiss Air Force crashed in the Säntis area , killing the pilot and 5 soldiers on board.
1983
- (T) On January 12, the landing gear of a Lockheed WV-2 / L-1049 Super Constellation owned by Indian Naval Aviation (registration number IN-316) was accidentally retracted while taxiing at Bombay Airport . The machine was damaged beyond repair, but all crew members survived.
- (A) On May 22nd, at an air show at the US Air Base near Frankfurt ( Hesse , Germany ), a Canadian F-104 Starfighter crashed into asix-person car drivingon the B 44 . The pilot of the machine was able to save himself with the ejection seat. Five of the occupants of the car died instantly, the sixth, a young woman, died in the hospital from her most severe burns after 81 days. At the crash site reminded to 2005, a cross on the roadside of the victims of the accident flight day from Frankfurt. This cross is now in the rooms of the Frankfurt Hope Community. A new white cross was set up nearby (see also the Frankfurt flight conference ) .
- (T) On June 6, a crashed Fairchild C-119 G Flying Boxcar of the Taiwanese Air Force (3197) a few minutes after taking off from the airport Kinmen due to the failure of an engine and a stall into the sea. A total of 38 of the 47 inmates died.
- On June 27, a Mirage III R of the French Armée de l'air (registration number 342/33-CR) collided between Assmannshardt and Birkenhardt near Biberach an der Riss with a private plane of the type Partenavia P.68 (D-GFPH) . In the crash, the 3 occupants of both aircraft died and 4 residents of a house on the ground into which the Mirage crashed.
1984
- May 28 - An F-16 Fighting Falcon of the Dutch Air Force hit a building at the hospital in Linz on the Rhine and crashed into a forest. The pilot and a local resident were killed. Numerous people were injured by debris flying around.
- June 3 - At the Flugsportclub Großostheim, a British high-flyer of the type Harrier went up in flames due to a technical defect during a fly at the airfield Aschaffenburg (Großostheim-Ringheim) about 30 meters above the runway . The pilot steered the plane away from the spectators and saved himself with the ejection seat. A spectator was hit by the falling ejection seat and died instantly.
- June 27th - A Pilatus PC-6 “Turbo Porter” of the Austrian Armed Forces crashed during airborne training for Jäger Battalion 25 above Goritschach (municipality of Ebenthal in Carinthia ) and crashed onto a rock. All 7 soldiers on board were killed. A firefighter had a fatal accident during the rescue work. The machine had started from the Glainach military training area near Ferlach and, due to the change in the seated / crouching position of those flying with it, got into a non-flyable state, which led to the crash.
- July 6th - A tornado of the German Air Force crashed near Holzkirchen , killing both crew members. A connection with the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the radio station of Radio Free Europe near Valley was suspected.
- August 29 - When the second prototype of the Rockwell B-1A bomb crashed on August 29, 1984 during a test flight, a pilot lost his life. Its seat had been torn from its mounts on impact. The other two crew members in the escape pod survived seriously injured. The capsule was blown off, but the parachute failed. The additional inflatable air cushions could not develop their effect due to the angle of impact.
1985
- (A) February 18 - A Harrier of the Royal Air Force and a Lockheed F-104 of the German Air Force collidedover Bad Laer , Germany . A pilot of the British machine was killed. (see also aircraft collision over Bad Laer )
- March 16 - A MiG-21M fighter aircraft of the National People's Army (NVA) crashed into a residential area in Cottbus . 2 people were injured.
- October 23 - Switzerland : An Alouette III of the Swiss Air Force hit trees near Rothenthurm and fell, killing three out of four people on board.
- (T) On November 21, 1985, a Lockheed C-130H-MP Hercules of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU A-1322) flew against the Sibajak volcano ( Sumatra , Indonesia ). All 11 inmates were killed.
1986
- May 18 - 40 km north of Djibouti . A Breguet Atlantic maritime patrol aircraft of the French naval aviation flew into the flank of the nearly 1,700 m high Montagne du Day . None of the 19 occupants survived the accident.
- October 21 - A German Air Force tornado (license plates 44 + 47 ) crashed in a failed air-to-ground attack during a training exercise on the Otterburn Range in England. Both crew members were killed. As early as 1983, a Dutch Air Force starfighter crashed while attacking the same ground target. Both accidents were recorded by cameras installed in the training area.
1987
- March 30th - Hünxe , Wesel district , North Rhine-Westphalia. Shortly after take-off from Bruges airfield around 9:00 a.m., the pilot lost control of the British RAF's Panavia Tornado ( GR1 ZD894) fighter aircraft . The machine then crashed into a field in the Lower Rhine community of Hünxe near Wesel, not far from the former Bucholtwelmen oil refinery. Both pilots were able to save themselves with the ejection seat, whereby the navigator suffered an arm fracture. The pilot had to be rescued from the treetops with the help of a rescue helicopter. As part of the aircraft accident investigation , a defective linkage of the right elevator (taileron) was found to be the cause of the crash. The financial damage to neighboring buildings and contamination caused by the crash, the crash site and the like. a. with kerosene, estimated at around £ 300,000.
- October 20 - Indianapolis , Indiana , USA. A Corsair II of the US Air Force tried an emergency landing on after an engine failure Indianapolis Airport . The landing maneuver failed, the pilot saved himself with the ejection seat, and the driverless machine crashed into a hotel . Nine hotel employees were killed and one hotel guest later succumbed to his injuries.
1988
- On March 31 in crashed Forst (Baden) an F-16C fighter-bombers of the US Air Force at a low flying exercise in a residential area. The pilot and a 62-year-old resident died.
- (T) On May 6, the day before the ILA at Hannover-Langenhagen Airport , three of the four crew members of a Boeing-Vertol CH-47C Chinook transport helicopter of the British Royal Air Force died while taxiing one of the two rotors over a passenger boarding bridge (Finger) rammed and caught fire.
- (T) On August 17, 1988, a Lockheed C-130B Hercules of the Pakistani Air Force with the registration number 23494 crashed shortly after take-off near Bahawalpur . All 30 inmates died, including Pakistani President Mohammed Zia-ul-Haq , the US ambassador, a US general and 17 senior Pakistani military personnel. The cause has not been clearly clarified, technical failure or sabotage is assumed.
- (A) On August 28th, 3 Aermacchi MB-339s of the Italian aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori collided at an air show at the Ramstein base and fell into the crowd. Of the approximately 350,000 spectators, 71 were killed. Some seriously injured (see also the Ramstein flight conference accident ) .
- On September 7, a SEPECAT Jaguar attack aircraft of the Royal Air Force crashed in the Bad Wildbad district of Calmbach , Germany . The cause was the stripping of a high-voltage line. The pilot died, the copilot was able to save himself with an ejector seat. At this point in time, national youth games were taking place a few hundred meters away .
- (A) On December 8th, an A-10 Thunderbolt II fighter jet ofthe US Air Force crashed into a residential area inthe Hasten district of Remscheid (see also plane crash in Remscheid ) .
1989
- (T) May 8 - Portland Harbor , England. A used as a training aircraft Handley Page Jetstream of British naval air force was at a flying display in a stall flown and crashed. Both pilots were killed.
- (T) July 22 - Fort Irwin , Barstow , California . A UH-60 Blackhawk from 1st Cavalry Division crashed in the desert at 4 a.m. local time, just before sunrise. Six people died. The cause of the accident is suspected to be a problem with the night vision flight equipment .
1990
- April 17th - Karlsruhe , Germany . In the collision of two Canadian military aircraft of the type McDonnell Douglas F / A-18 and their crash within the urban area of Karlsruhe, a pilot died whose parachute had not opened. There were two more injured.
- (T) May 11 - In Lohr am Main , Germany crashed a C-160 Transall of the German air force . 10 people died.
- (T) 10 August - An Antonov An-12 of the Afghan Air Force crashed shortly after takeoff at Shindand , in western Afghanistan . All 83 inmates died.
- (T) Aug. 29 - Ramstein Air Base , Germany . A military transport of the type Lockheed C-5A Galaxy the US Air Force plunged immediately from after the start. 13 of the 17 crew members died.
- (T) 29 November - The North 262C-62 of the Air Force of Gabon with the indicator TR-KJB and the manufacturing number 90 was in an incident in Libreville irreparably destroyed. The type of accident and whether people were harmed is not known.
- December 6th - An Aermacchi MB-326 of the Italian Air Force crashed into a school in Casalecchio di Reno near Bologna; twelve students died and dozen were seriously injured. The pilot was able to save himself with the ejector seat.
1991
- (T) January 10 - A CASA C-212 Aviocar 200 of the Venezuelan Navy flew near the airport Alberto Carnevalli ( Venezuela ) against a mountain. Of the three crew members and 20 passengers, all crew members and 19 passengers perished.
- (T) On 31 January one was Lockheed AC-130H Hercules of the US Air Force (69-6567) during the company's "Desert Storm" near Ras Al Khafji ( Saudi Arabia shot) through an air defense missile. All 14 crew members were killed.
- (T) On February 5, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Greek Air Force (GrAF 748 ) was flown into the Othrys Mountains ( Greece ), 15 miles west-southwest of the Volos-Nea Anchialos airport . All 63 occupants, 5 crew members and 58 passengers, were killed in this CFIT ( controlled flight into terrain ).
- (T) March 21 - On landing in Al Mishab ( Saudi Arabia ) crashed a Lockheed C-130 of the Royal Saudi Air Force , with 98 of 101 people died on board.
- (T) March 25 - A Hindustan Aeronautics HAL 748 of the Indian Air Force (IAF H-1513) rose at the start of the air base Yelahanka little, reaching a height of only 50 meters. It collided with a stone wall, fell and caught fire. All 28 occupants, 3 crew members and 25 passengers were killed.
- (T) August 15 - An Antonov An-26 of the Soviet Air Force crashed into a mountain near Petrel, Russia . There were 9 dead. The air traffic controller had given the aircraft a wrong flight direction after take-off.
- (T) On October 5, an engine caught fire on a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU A-1324) shortly after taking off from Jakarta-Halim Airport ( Indonesia ). Apparently control of the plane was lost and it crashed into a training center 3 kilometers south of the airport. Of the 134 occupants, 133 were killed, all 12 crew members and 121 passengers, and 2 people were killed on the ground. This was the third worst accident involving a Hercules in terms of the number of fatalities.
- (T) October 22nd - The pilot of an Alouette III died when he took off with his helicopter in Dübendorf (Switzerland) while the adjustment of the tail rotor was still locked. The Luftwaffe launch procedure actually requires a brief hover during which this could be noticed.
1992
- (T) April 26 - Iran . When a Fokker F-27 of the Iranian Air Force crashed near Saveh , all 39 occupants were killed.
- (T) July 17 - Yemen . An Antonov An-12 of the Yemeni Air Force crashed while approaching Sana'a , killing all 57 occupants.
- (T) On September 26, 1992, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF911) crashed into a swamp with mangrove trees shortly after takeoff. Engine 2 failed immediately after take-off, followed shortly afterwards by a second. The pilots wanted to ditch a canal, but a third engine failure occurred. The plane crashed vertically 7 kilometers west of the takeoff airport in Lagos ( Nigeria ). The machine was on its way to Kaduna (Nigeria) and Jos . All 159 occupants, 8 crew members and 151 passengers were killed; this is the official information. However, it is likely that there were more people on board as no cargo documents were issued. Further reports indicate 163 inmates, another 174 and even 200 people, since among the dead were unidentified children as well as military personnel who were practically “hitchhiking”. In any case, this was the most serious Lockheed Hercules accident in terms of the number of fatalities.
1993
- (A) (T) April 27 - Libreville , Gabon . A de Havilland Canada DHC-5 Buffalo of the Zambian Air Force ,comingfrom Lusaka , Zambia ,crashed into the sea after a stopover in Libreville, Gabon after the left engine failed. The Zambian national soccer team and their companions (30 people) who were on their way to a World Cup qualifying match in Dakar , Senegal ,died on board (see flight accident involving the Zambian Air Force's DHC-5 Buffalo AF-319 ) .
- (T) April 27 - Afghanistan . In Tashqurgan a crashed Antonov An-32 of the Afghan Air Force from 76 people. Nobody survived.
- (T) April 27 - Switzerland . A PC-6 Turbo Porter of the Swiss Air Force crashed on the Finsteraarhorn due to turbulence and a strong foehn . Three people were killed.
1994
- (T) On March 17, 1994, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Iranian Air Force (IRAF 5-8521) 3 km north of Stepanakert ( Nagorno-Karabakh , Armenia shot down most likely). All 32 occupants, 13 crew members and 19 passengers were killed.
- (A) (T) March 23 - Green Ramp Disaster at Pope Air Force Base , North Carolina , USA . Collision of a General Dynamics F-16 with a Lockheed C-130 Hercules on approach. While the Hercules landed safely and the pilot of the F-16 wasable to save himselfwith the ejector seat , his machine crashed on the airfield, caught fire and hurled into a group of parachutists and their fully fueled Lockheed C-141 Starlifter , which also caught fire. 24 soldiers died and over 100 were injured.
- (T) June 2 - Mull of Kintyre , Scotland , UK . A British Army helicopter of the type Boeing CH-47C Chinook crashed into a hilltop on the Scottish cliffs shortly after 6 p.m. local time in thick fog and exploded. The Chinook had started from Aldergrove near Belfast , Northern Ireland at 5:30 p.m. with 25 anti-terror experts and four crew members on board. The aim of the members of the British Domestic Intelligence Service ( MI5 ), the army and other specialists was to attend a conference of security forces in Fort George near Inverness . All inmates died. Defense Secretary John Hutton publicly affirmed on December 8, 2008 that responsibility was initially unilaterally assigned to the two pilots (high speed and low altitude in fog) .
- (A) June 24 - Fairchild Air Force Base , Washington , USA . A B-52 bomber crashed while training for an air show at Fairchild Air Base due to a risky maneuver by the commander. All four crew members died (see B-52 crash at Fairchild Air Force Base ).
- (T) August 4 - Bada , Russia . On landing, an Antonov An-12 of the Russian Air Force crashed with 47 people.
1995
- (T) April 28 - Jaffna , Sri Lanka . A Hawker Siddeley HS.748 of the Sri Lankan Air Force launched into Colombo was shot down by Tamil separatists after taking off , killing all 45 people on board.
- (T) April 29 - Jaffna , Sri Lanka . A Hawker Siddeley HS.748 of the Sri Lankan Air Force coming from Anuradhapura was shot down by Tamil separatists while approaching . All 52 inmates died.
- (T) June 7th - One of the two Let L-410s of the Latvian Air Force (146) crashed near Lielvārde , the former 325/53 + 06 of the NVA or Air Force. The two-man crew was killed when a prohibited barrel roll failed to fly at a height of 200 meters.
- (T) June 17 - Near Catumbela , Angola . When a CASA 212 of the Angolan Air Force crashed , 48 of 53 passengers died.
- (T) July 18 - Antananarivo , Madagascar . On landing, a Douglas C-47 of the Madagascar Air Force had an accident with 40 people on board, 34 of whom died.
- (T) September 12 - Colombo , Sri Lanka . An Antonov An-32 of the Sri Lankan Air Force returned to Colombo due to instrument problems, but crashed shortly before the target. None of the 75 inmates survived.
- At the start of September 22 came Boeing E-3A Sentry of the US Air Force from Elmendorf Air Force Base ( Anchorage , Alaska , USA ) Birds crashed on board in two of the four engines, after which the machine with all 24 people. There were no survivors.
- (T) On November 8, a Fokker F-27 of the Líneas Aéreas del Estado crashed into a mountain near Villa Dolores ( Córdoba ) in bad weather . None of the 53 occupants survived the accident.
- (T) On 22 October 1995, a crashed Transall C-160 of the Air Force . The aircraft with the registration number 50 + 43 of Lufttransportgeschwader 61 was on its way to the United States of America. The aircraft landed in Ponta Delgada in the Azores to refuel before it was supposed to fly on to St. John's ( Newfoundland , Canada). After an unsuccessful abortion due to an engine failure, she touched a high-voltage pylon and fell into the sea. All seven crew members were killed.
- (T) On November 22, fell one Antonov An-32 of the Air Force of Sri Lanka on the landing approach in Jaffna , Sri Lanka into the sea, and all 62 people on board perished.
1996
- (T) On February 26, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Sudanese Air Force (license plate unknown) crashed in flames near Jabal Awliya ( Sudan , 25 miles south of Khartoum) ten minutes before landing at Khartoum Airport . All 91 occupants, 5 crew members and 86 passengers were killed.
- (T) (A) On April 3 was (a military version of a Boeing CT-43A Boeing 737 the -200, Commercial Aircraft US Air Force ) ( air vehicle registration 73-1149 ), on approach to Dubrovnik ( Croatia flown) into a hill. None of the 35 inmates, including the acting US Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown , survived (see also the IFO-21 accident ) .
- On May 27, an Alouette III of the Swiss Air Force crashed at Château d'Oex after colliding with a transport cable , killing the pilot and three passengers on board.
- (A) On June 6, a Bundeswehr helicopter of the type Bell UH-1D crashedat the YOU youth fair in Dortmund . 13 young people died, one person survived (see also the aircraft accident at the YOU 1996 youth fair in Dortmund ) .
- (T) On July 15, 1996, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Belgian Air Force (CH-06) had an accident while landing at Eindhoven Airport ( Netherlands ). The machine had been chartered by the Dutch Air Force . After several bird strikes , the left engines 1 and 2 lost power, but the crew switched off engine 3. The plane crashed next to the runway. However, the fire brigade at Eindhoven Airport only noticed after 23 minutes that there were passengers in the cabin. Of the 41 occupants, 34 were killed, including all 4 crew members and 30 passengers; only 7 passengers survived.
- (T) On November 27, an unsuccessful Ilyushin Il-76MD the Russian Air Force (RA-78804) shortly after taking off from the airport Abakan , Russia . All 23 occupants were killed in the accident.
- (T) On December 24, a Hindustan Aeronautics HAL 748 of the Indian Air Force (IAF H-1032) crashed near Dubagunta, India . First the left engine broke off and then the left wing. All 22 occupants, 4 crew members and 18 passengers were killed.
1997
- (T) February 2 - Angola . A CASA 212 of the Angolan Air Force had an accident on a domestic flight, killing all 37 occupants.
- (T) February 4 - Israel . Two military helicopters collide. All 73 people died.
- (T) On March 13, 1997, a Lockheed C-130 Hercules of the Iranian Air Force (license plate unknown) crashed 15 miles from the destination Mashhad ( Iran ) airport after the pilots reported engine problems. All 86 inmates were killed.
- (T) March 20 - Switzerland . The Mirage III RS of the Swiss Air Force with the registration number R-2101 crashed in the Sainte-Croix area . The pilot was killed.
- (T) May 12 - Switzerland . The PC-6 Turbo Porter of the Swiss Air Force with the registration number V-630 crashed in the Simmental . 5 people died.
- (T) September 13 - Namibia . Over the Atlantic , around 120 km west of Namibia, a Tupolev Tu-154 of the German Air Force collided with a Lockheed C-141 Starlifter of the US Air Force . The German machine was at the wrong altitude, which was not noticed by flight control. All 24 people on board the Tupolev and all 9 of the starlifters died.
- (A) (T) December 5 - Irkutsk , Russia . An Antonov An-124 cargo plane of the Russian Air Force crashed into a residential area around 20 seconds after take-off due to the failure of two of the four engines. Several houses were destroyed by the subsequent fire. All 23 people on board the aircraft and 45 on the ground died (see also crash of an Antonov An-124 in Irkutsk ) .
- (T) On December 20, 1997, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Greek Air Force (GrAF 750 ) was flown into Mount Pastra ( Greece ). The machine was approaching the Tanagra military airfield . In this CFIT ( Controlled Flight into Terrain ) all 5 crew members were killed.
1998
- (A) February 3 - Italy . A US reconnaissance jet of the type EA-6B Prowler severed the suspension cable of a cabin cable car in the winter sports resort Cavalese while flying low- the gondola fell 100 meters, all 20 occupants died. The pilot was able tolandthe almost undamaged aircraft on his base in Aviano . It is not known why the plane was flying low (see the Cavalese cable car accident ).
- (T) February 12 - Sudan . An Antonov An-26 of the Sudanese Air Force shot over the runway on landing in Nasir and slipped into a river. 26 of the 57 inmates died, including a Vice President of Sudan and other members of the government.
- April 7th - Switzerland . An F / A-18 of the Swiss Air Force crashed in the area of Crans-Montana from during an air combat exercise. Both pilots died.
- (T) May 5 - Peru . A Boeing 737 of the Peruvian Air Force leased by the oil company Occidental Petroleum crashed shortly before its destination on the flight from Iquitos to Andoas . 74 people died and 13 survived.
- (T) May 12 - Mauritania . 39 people were killed in the crash of a Yunshuji Y-7 belonging to the Mauritanian Air Force near Néma .
- October 14 - Switzerland . In Oberuzwil overthrew Pilatus PC-9 of the Swiss Air Force with the registration C-404 from where the pilot was killed. The reason for the crash was a collision with the aircraft of the same type with the registration number C-405, which was able to make an emergency landing in Altenrhein.
1999
- (T) Jan. 11 - A Hindustan Aeronautics HAL 748 of the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (military registration H-2175 ) crashed 2.5 kilometers from the naval air base in Arakkonam (INS Rajali) during the approach . The machine had been modified with a radar antenna dome, which apparently collapsed on approach. All 8 occupants, four crew members and four passengers, perished.
- (T) 21 January - On a domestic flight crashed an Antonov An-26 of the Nicaraguan Air Force near the destination airport Bluefields , Nicaragua , in mountainous terrain from. All 28 inmates were killed.
- (T) March 7 - An Antonov An-32 of the Indian Air Force crashed while approaching the airport New Delhi to a suburb. All 18 occupants of the aircraft and three people on the ground died.
- (T) June 3 - On the way to Khartoum ( Sudan ) an Antonov An-32 of the Sudanese Air Force had an accident around 80 kilometers east of the destination. None of the 50 inmates survived the crash.
- October 29 - Pakistan . When a Lockheed P-3 of the Pakistani Navy crashed , all 21 occupants were killed.
2000
- (T) (A) On February 2, 2000 was Airbus A300B2-203 of Iran Air (EP-IBR) destroyed when the crew of a Lockheed C-130 Hercules of the Iranian Air Force during takeoff in Tehran Mehrabad lost control and their machine collided with the Airbus, which was being towed to a hangar. - May 25th - Delémont , Switzerland . An Alouette III of the Swiss Air Force crashed after touching a cable. The pilot and four border guards on board died.
- October 12 - Montana VS , Switzerland . An Alouette III of the Swiss Air Force crashed after touching a cable. Four people on board died.
- (T) December 2 - Khabarovsk , Russia . An Ilyushin Il-76 , a military cargo plane , on its flight from Moscow to Anadyr , caught fire over the Bering Sea and crashed. All 18 people on board died.
2002
- March 14th - Hamburg-Hummelsbüttel, Hamburg , Germany . A Bell UH-1D of the German Armed Forces in action as a SAR-71 rescue helicopter crashed while it was on its way to an operation. After the mission was aborted by the rescue control center, the pilot initiated a reversing maneuver in which he went into an almost vertical climb and the aircraft completely lost airspeed. The subsequent descent resulted in an impact of the main rotor blades into parts of the aircraft cell. The reason was human error, as the pilot had a blood alcohol level of 1.5 per mille. All 5 crew members lost their lives.
- May 3 - Jalandhar , India . An Indian MiG-21 crashed into a two-story bank. At least seven people died in the accident.
- (A) July 27 - Lviv , Ukraine . During an air show, a Sukhoi Su-27 crashedinto the audience and caught fire. The pilots were able to save themselves with the ejection seat, but85 spectatorsdied in the Lviv flight conference accident , and 115 others were injured, some seriously.
- (T) August 19 - Chankala , Chechnya . A Mil Mi-26 helicopter was damaged by an anti-aircraft missile and crashed near Chankala Airport . 115 of the 147 people on board died; this was the worst helicopter accident to date.
- November 12 - Bonaduz , Switzerland . A Pilatus PC-7 of the Swiss Air Force collided with the rope of the passenger cable car from Rhäzüns to Feldis and crashed. The two officers on board died.
- (T) December 21 - A Sikorsky CH-53 of the Bundeswehr crashed into an empty building on the outskirts of Kabul . Seven Bundeswehr soldiers died and the machine could not be shot down. The exact number of possible civilian casualties on the ground was not known; first reports reported a total of 14 deaths.
2003
- (T) February 19 - Iran . An Iranian IL-76MD with 257 soldiers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and 18 crew members on board hit a mountain and all 275 people were killed. The machine was on the flight from Zahedan to Kerman .
- (T) December 17 - A CASA CN-235 of the French Air Force (registration number F-RAIA ) flew into sloping terrain in the Vallée du Vicdessos ( Département Ariège ). All seven people on board died.
2004
- (T) September 11 - A military helicopter with 17 people on board, including the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Africa, Petros VII , crashed about 30 kilometers from its destination on the way from Thessaloniki to Mount Athos . None of the inmates survived.
- (A) March 16 - An official of the United States Air Force related, but actually flying from the conspiratorial, for the US Department of Defense airline Janet operated Beechcraft 1900C (N27RA) crashed while flying a curve for the final approach to the Tonopah Test Range off . Five people were killed. It turned out that thepilot, who was sufferingfrom high blood pressure , had suffered sudden cardiac death . Previously, the pilot had hidden medical officers from the Federal Aviation Administration about his state of health and taken medication that made his state of health even worse (see also the crash of a Beechcraft 1900 by Janet ) .

2005
- (T) On June 29, a transport helicopters was CH-47 Chinook of US forces in the Afghan province of Kunar with an armor weapon shot down. At least 16 soldiers were killed, several are missing.
- (T) on July 21, crashed a CASA CN-235 of the Indonesian Air Force ( Air vehicle registration number A-2301 ) while approaching the airfield Lhokseumawe-Malikussaleh near Medan (province of North Sumatra ) from. Three of the 23 inmates were killed.
- (T) On August 16, 17 Spanish soldiers died in the crash of a military helicopter of the type Eurocopter AS 532UL Cougar of the Spanish Army Aviation (HU.21L-57) . The helicopter was in Afghanistan as part of the ISAF protection force and crashed in the morning near Herat while it was being shot at with anti-aircraft fire from a nearby village. - (T) On December 6, 2005, a Lockheed C-130E Hercules of the Iranian Air Force (IrAF 5-8519) crashed into a ten-story apartment building in the Azari residential area while approaching Tehran's Mehrabad Airport ( Iran ). Eight minutes after take-off, the crew reported engine problems with engine 4 (far right) and had turned around for an emergency landing. A total of 106 people were killed, all 94 occupants, 10 crew members and 84 passengers; 12 more people were killed in the skyscraper.
2006
- (T) 19 January - An Antonov An-24 of the Slovak Army bounced around 19.30 during the landing approach to Košice (Eastern Slovakia) in the fog against a 700-meter high mountain in an inaccessible forest area to the northeast Hungarian community Hejce belongs. The machine had mostly Slovak KFOR soldiers on board, who flew home from Pristina after six months of deployment in Kosovo . Of the 45 passengers and crew on board, only one person survived.

2010
- (A) (T) April 10 - A Tupolev Tu-154 with 96 people on board crashed while approaching the Smolensk-Nord military airfield (Russia). On board were the Polish President Lech Kaczyński and numerous high-ranking Polish politicians and members of the army who were on their way to a memorial service for the Katyn massacre . All 96 people on board were killed (see plane crash near Smolensk ).
2011
- (T) July 26 - A Lockheed C-130 military aircraft crashed in thick fog at Guelmim military airfield in Morocco , 78 of the 81 occupants died.
- August 20 - A BAE Hawk crashed into a field near the airport as part of the UK's Bournemouth Air Festival. The pilot, a member of the Red Arrows , was killed. Spectators were not injured.
- (T) September 2 - A CASA C-212 military aircraft launched in Santiago de Chile crashed into the sea after two failed attempts to land at the airport on Robinson Crusoe Island (Juan Fernández Archipelago), killing all 21 occupants came. Strong wind gusts were suspected as the cause of the crash.
2012
- (A) June 22nd -Both pilots were killedwhen a McDonnell F-4 of the Turkish Air Force was shot down .

Among the dead were several high-ranking politicians in the country who were on their way to a memorial service. During the crash, u. a. the Lao Defense Minister and Vice Prime Minister Duangchay Phichit, the Mayor of Vientiane Soukan Mahalat and the Minister of Public Security Thongban Saengaphon perished. Three passengers survived the crash.
- May 27 - A MiG-21 of the Indian Air Force crashed after takeoff in district Anantnag in Kashmir from. The pilot was killed.

- (T) (A) On October 2, at approximately 0:00 a.m. local time, a US Lockheed C-130J Hercules transport plane crashed at Jalalabad Airport in Afghanistan shortly after take-off. Six US soldiers and five civilians who were involved in the Resolute Support mission died. The reason was a blockage of the elevator caused by the crew by the container of a night vision device in order to simplify its stowage in the cockpit (see also the crash of a C-130J Hercules of the United States Air Force near Jalalabad ) .

- September 12 - A Pilatus PC-7 of the Swiss Air Force crashed into the western flank of the Schreckshorn ( Switzerland ) in bad weather . The pilot died.
- October 10 - Two Russian pilots died at the Hmeimim air base in Syria when they rolled over the runway in a Su-24 while taking off .
- (T) Nov. 22 - A Grumman C-2A Greyhound of the US Navy (Mark Bu 162175 ) crashed into the Philippine Sea . The machine was in flight from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni (Japan) to the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan . Eight of the eleven inmates were recovered alive; the other three are missing.
- December 18 - A MiG-29A of the Polish Air Force (registration number 67 ) crashed near Mińsk Mazowiecki . The pilot was able to save himself with the ejector seat.
2018
- (T) January 19 - A CASA CN-235 of the Turkish Air Force ( registration number 097 ) went into a tailspin near Kayseri and crashed. All three inmates died.
- (T) February 16 - Mexico's Interior Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida wanted to get a picture of the situation after a moderate earthquake and flew into Jamiltepec in Oaxaca in a helicopter . Shortly before landing on vacant property, the Sikorsky UH-60 military helicopter crashed , killing 13 people who had apparently been waiting for the minister to arrive on the ground. Blowing up dust had disoriented the pilot on landing.
- (T) March 6 - An Antonov An-26 transport aircraft of the Russian Air Force (registration number RF-92955 ) crashed on approach to the Syrian military airfield at Hmeimim around 3 p.m. Moscow time about 500 m from the runway. All Russian military personnel on board, 33 passengers and six crew members, were killed (see also crash of an Antonov An-26 in Latakia ) .
- March 20 - A Hawk T1 of the Red Arrows aerobatic team of the British Air Forces crashed shortly after take-off at 1:30 p.m. GMT during a training flight at the military section of Anglesey RAF Valley airport in Wales . A mechanic on board the aircraft suffered fatal injuries, the pilot survived injured.
- (T) (A) April 11 - An Ilyushin Il-76 of the Algerian Air Force (7T-WIV) crashed into a field in the province of Blida in the north of Algeria shortly after taking off from Boufarik Air Force Base near the capital Algiers , broke and burned out. All 257 occupants, 247 soldiers and relatives and 10 crew members died (see plane crash near Boufarik ).
- (T) On May 2, 2018 crashed a Lockheed WC-130H Hercules of the 156th Airlift Wing of the National Guard of Puerto Rico (65-0968) after an engine failure two kilometers northeast of the starting airport Savannah / Hilton Head ( Georgia ) from. The machine was on a transfer flight for decommissioning at the AMARG aircraft depot near Tucson , Arizona . All occupants, nine crew members, were killed.
- July 6th - A MiG-29G of the Polish Air Force (registration number 4103 - formerly 29 + 16 of the Air Force ) crashed near Sakówko . The pilot was killed.
- (T) On December 6, 2018, a McDonnell Douglas F / A-18C / D and a Lockheed KC-130J Hercules of the United States Marine Corps (Bu 167981) collided during a tank maneuver east of Japan. The crew of the F / A-18 was able to catapult themselves from the aircraft and the WSO was rescued, while the pilot could only be recovered dead. The five-man crew of the tanker was initially reported missing and declared dead on December 11, 2018 after the search was abandoned.
2019
- January 9 - A Mirage 2000D , which took off from the Nancy-Ochey military airfield , crashed in the Doubs department .
- (T) January 14 - A Boeing 707-300 cargo aircraft, in service with the Iranian Air Force , was destroyed and caught fire while landing near Karaj . 15 of the 16 people on board were killed. The plane came from Bishkek , Kyrgyzstan and was supposed to land at Payam Airport. Instead, in bad weather conditions, it landed at Fat'h Airport, 10 kilometers away. The runways of the two airports are almost in the same direction, but the Fat'h runway is more than 2300 m shorter and therefore too short for the type of aircraft.
- January 18 - Two Russian Air Force Su-34 fighter-bombers collided during a training flight over the Sea of Japan . The crews of the two machines (each pilot and navigator) were initially able to save themselves with the ejection seats, but not all survived the emergency exit or the parachute landing in the sea.
- February 22 - An Aero L-39 Albatros of the Algerian air force crashed, two people were killed.
- February 26 - A MiG-21 of the Cuban armed forces crashed into a field in the municipality of Güira de Melena , around 50 km southwest of Havana , during an aerial combat exercise . The pilot had tried to land the aircraft because of technical problems. He was able to save himself with the ejection seat. No people were harmed on the ground either.
- March 4 - A MiG-29A of the Polish Air Force (registration number 40 ) crashed near Łochów . The pilot was able to save himself with the ejector seat.
- March 13 - An Aero L-39 Albatros of the Algerian Air Force crashed during a night flight, both pilots were killed.
- (T) March 27 - A Mil Mi-8 of the Kazakh armed forces crashed "in the dark and difficult conditions", killing the 13 members of the armed forces on board.
- (T) May 29 - A Mil Mi-8 of the Ukrainian Armed Forces crashed in the Rivne area, killing five service members.
- June 24th - Two Eurofighter Typhoon of the Luftwaffe collided in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania north of the Fleesensee near Malchow and crashed. Both pilots were able to use the ejection seat, but one of the two pilots was killed. The other pilot was found alive from the top of a tree.
- June 30 - A Beechcraft King Air 350 the armed forces of Pakistan slumped over inhabited areas in Rawalpindi from. 18 people died in the accident, including 13 civilians and 5 soldiers.
- July 1 - A training helicopter of the type EC 135 of the Bundeswehr from the Bückeburg Army Airfield crashed into a grain field in Dehmke in the Hameln-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony . One pilot was killed in the crash and another inmate was seriously injured.
- September 19 - A Belgian Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed near Lorient . One of the soldiers caught his parachute in a power line and was injured.
- (T) On the afternoon of December 9, 2019, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Chilean Air Force with the registration number 990 with 38 people on board crashed over Drake Passage ( Southern Ocean ). She was on her way from Punta Arenas to the Presidente Frei research station and disappeared from the air traffic control radar about two hours after takeoff. On December 12, 2019, the approximate site of the crash could be localized using debris. None of the 17 crew members and 21 passengers survived the accident (see also the crash of a Lockheed C-130 of the Chilean Air Force in December 2019 ) .
