The ATP tournament in Madrid (officially Madrid Tennis Grand Prix , Spanish Open or, most recently, Trofeo Grupo Zeta Villa de Madrid ) was a men's tennis tournament that was held in Madrid , Spain , from 1972 to 1994 . The game was played outdoors on clay. The venue was the Club de Tenis Chamartin . The tournament last ran as part of the ATP World Series , the predecessor of the ATP World Tour 250 .
In singles, Ilie Năstase and Yannick Noah managed to win the tournament twice and are record winners. Although several players were able to win the tournament twice in doubles, Năstase is also the record winner here, winning a total of three doubles titles.
