Marina Konstantinovna Schmonina

Marina Konstantinovna Schmonina ( Russian Марина Константиновна Шмонина , English transcription Marina Shmonina ; born February 9, 1965 in Tashkent ) is a former Russian sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

In 1989, starting for the Soviet Union , she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in The Hague and was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest . In 1990 she won gold at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and was seventh at the European Championships in Split .

At the World Indoor Championships in 1991 , she won silver with the Soviet team in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

In 1992, starting for the United Team , she was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Genoa . At the Olympic Games in 1992 she was used in the run-up to the 4 x 400 meter relay and thus contributed to the gold medal win of the United Team.

In 1989 she was Soviet outdoor champion, in 1990 indoor. In 1992 she became the hall champion of the Commonwealth of Independent States .
