Meta Antenen (born April 7, 1949 in Orpund , after marriage to Meta Matthys-Antenen ) is a former Swiss athlete , in the long jump , 100-meter hurdles , 100-meter run and pentathlon .

Life

At the age of 15, Antenen became the Swiss long jump champion for the first time in 1964. In the same year she took over the Swiss record in this discipline, later the Swiss records in the 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter run and pentathlon were added. In 1966 Antenen was voted Swiss Sportswoman of the Year .

In 1971 she took at the European Athletics Championships the silver medal in the long jump with 6.73 meters, three centimeters behind Ingrid Becker . This distance was only exceeded by Irene Pusterla in 2010 and was the Swiss record for 39 years. In the same year she jumped at the Swiss championships on 6.83 m. However, this record was subsequently revoked due to too much tailwind. In 1971 she was voted Swiss Sportswoman of the Year for the second time and received the UNESCO Fair Play Medal named after Pierre de Coubertin .

Antenen started for the LC Schaffhausen and was multiple Swiss champion in the long jump , 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter, pentathlon and high jump disciplines . With a height of 1.68 m, her competition weight was 56 kg.

After finishing her sports career, she married and had two children.
