As of the 2010 census , Milton had 6,968 residents, 2,901 households and 1,834 families. There were 3,081 housing units.

The average household size was 2.4 and the average family size was 2.95.

The median age in the city was 36.7 years. 23.4% of the population were under 18, 9.3% between 18 and 24, 28.9% between 25 and 44, 26.5% between 45 and 64 and 12, 65 years or older. 47.7% of the population were men and 52.3% women.
