Allende is a municipality with a good 8400 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality extends over an area of 2136.8 km². The administrative seat and largest place in the municipality is Valle de Ignacio Allende .
The municipality was once called Valle de Allende . The municipality bears his name as well as its main town in honor of the Mexican revolutionary Ignacio Allende .

The municipality of Allende is located in the southeast of the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1300 m and 2100 m . 97.6% of it belongs to the physiographic province of the Sierras y Llanuras del Norte , the rest to the Sierra Madre Occidental . The community area lies entirely in the hydrological region Bravo - Conchos and thus drains into the Gulf of Mexico . The geology of the municipality is determined with over 37.7% of alluvions with 34.2% conglomerate rock and 18% basalt ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are calcisol (49%), leptosol (16%) and phaeozem (11%). 52% of the community area is used as pastureland, 36% is taken up by scrub, 10% is used for arable farming.
The municipality is surrounded by the municipalities Hidalgo del Parral , Valle de Zaragoza , San Francisco de Conchos , Camargo , Jiménez , López , Coronado and Matamoros .

The 2010 census counted 8409 people in 2506 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 88 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 68 speakers of the Tarahumara language . About 4.5% of the population was illiterate. 3264 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 75% were men and approx. 4.7% were unemployed. 7.2% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
