Mykolaivka ( Ukrainian Миколаївка ; Russian Николаевка Nikolajewka ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Sumy Oblast with about 4200 inhabitants (2017).
The village, founded in the second half of the 17th century, received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1957 and was renamed Schowtnewe (Ukrainian Жовтневе ; Russian Жовтневое Schowtnewoje ). Before that, the village was known under the name Mykolaivka-Wyriwska ( Миколаївка-Вирівська ). On May 19, 2016, the place was renamed to its old name Mykolaivka in the course of the decommunization of Ukraine .
geography
Mykolaivka is located in the district of Bilopillja on the bank of the small river Vyr ( Ukrainian Вир ), a tributary of the Seim , 36 km south of the district center of Bilopillja . The regional road P-61 runs through the village .

In addition to the main town, the Mykolaivka settlement council also included the villages of Arkavske , Butowschtschyna , Hostynne , Pashchenkowe , Samara , Scholobok , Strilzewe and Suschylyne as well as the settlements of Kalyniwka , Shevchenkivka , Sorjane and Timirjasjewka , the center of the newly founded settlement on August 18, 2016 Mykolaivka settlement community ( Миколаївська селищна громада Mykolaivska selyschtschna hromada ). with a total of 10,399 inhabitants and an area of 457.349 km².
