Nikita Sergeevich Sadorov ( Russian: Никита Сергеевич Задоров ; English transcription: Nikita Sergeevich Zadorov ; born April 16, 1995 in Moscow ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League since June 2015 .
Career
youth
Nikita Sadorow was born in Moscow and went through the youth departments of the HK CSKA Moscow until he played in the 2011/12 season for the CSKA-associated Krasnaja Armija (German: "Red Army") Moscow in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League , which Junior division of the Continental Hockey League . In addition, he took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2012 at the turn of the year and won the gold medal there with the Russian selection, before he was also part of the squad at the U18 World Cup in 2012 , where he finished fifth with the team. After the season, Sadorow was selected by HK CSKA Moscow in the KHL Junior Draft 2012 in fourth position, but he decided to move to the Canadian Ontario Hockey League (OHL), whose London Knights pulled the defender in ninth place in the 2012 CHL Import Draft had.
After another fifth place at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2012, Sadorow completed his first OHL season, at the end of which he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup directly with the Knights . Furthermore, the Russian was elected to the OHL's First All- Rookie Team before he was selected in the subsequent NHL Entry Draft 2013 in ninth position by the Buffalo Sabers .
NHL
The Buffalo Sabers equipped him with an entry-level contract in September of the same year , after which the defender made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) at the beginning of the 2013/14 season . After seven missions and one goal, however, the Sabers sent him back to the Knights in the OHL to give him more game practice. At the turn of the year he represented his country at the U20 World Cup in 2014 for the first time at the U20 level and won the bronze medal with the Russian team , where he was appointed to the all-star team of the tournament. In his second and final OHL year, Sadorow had 30 points scorer in 36 games and was elected to the league's Second All-Star Team at the end of the season .
At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Sadorow was part of the Sabers NHL squad and came to 60 missions over the course of the season, recording 15 points and thus leading all the Sabers rookies (together with Nicolas Deslauriers ). In June 2015, the Sabers including Mikhail Grigorenko , JT Compher and a second-round vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft gave him to the Colorado Avalanche , with Ryan O'Reilly and Jamie McGinn moving to Buffalo in return . At the Avalanche Sadorow could not earn an immediate regular place and therefore completed 22 NHL appearances and 52 games with the Avalanche farm team in the American Hockey League , the San Antonio Rampage . At the beginning of the 2016/17 season, however, the Russian established himself in the Colorado NHL squad.
