Kim Rhode is the first US Olympic female skeet champion.
Danka Barteková wins the first Slovak medal in this discipline.
With the victory, Kim Rhode has won five medals (three gold, one silver and one bronze medal) in Olympic shooting since 1996. This makes her the most successful athlete at the Olympics alongside Marina Logwinenko (RUS), Marija Grosdewa (BUL) and Jasna Šekarić (YUG / SRB).
Rhode is also only the fifth person to have won medals in five consecutive Olympic Games. So far this has only been achieved by the Japanese judoka Ryoko Tamura-Tani (1992-2008), the Italian tobogganist Armin Zöggeler (1994-2010), the German tobogganist Georg Hackl (1988-2002) and the German speed skater Claudia Pechstein (1992-2006).
