Finland took part in the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan with a delegation of 50 athletes, 43 men and seven women.
It was Finland's tenth participation in the Winter Olympics since 1924 .
Flag bearer
Cross-country skier Juha Mieto carried the flag of Finland during the opening ceremony at Makomanai Stadium .
Medals
With four won silver and a bronze medal, the Finnish team finished 15th in the medals table .
