Panasonic was a Dutch cycling team . It was founded in 1984 by team manager Peter Post after his TI Raleigh team split. Some racing cyclists followed Jan Raas to the newly formed Kwantum Hallen-Decoso-Yoko team , which later became the Rabobank Cycling Team . Most of the drivers on the Raleigh team, however, stayed with Post and chose his team, which is sponsored by the Japanese electronics company Panasonic .
Co-sponsors were Isostar from 1987 to 1989 and Sportlife from 1990 to 1992 . Raleigh remained a bike supplier and co-sponsor for another two years.
Many of the team's most successful drivers were not Dutch: Eric Vanderaerden , Phil Anderson , Vyacheslav Vladimirovich Jekimow , Robert Millar , Olaf Ludwig , Jens Heppner , Maurizio Fondriest and Eddy Planckaert .
In 1992, Panasonic Cycles withdrew from sponsoring the team, which was subsequently dissolved. Panasonic also gave its name to other teams: The Ride Sport Racing team was supported in 2008. There was also the Panasonic-Shimano team , which existed from 1980 to 1982, and the German Panasonic-Panaracer team , which was active in 1991 and 1992, and the Australian team Panasonic in 1994 .
