The Bisons de Granby were a Canadian ice hockey team from Granby , Québec . The team played from 1981 to 1997 in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
history
The Éperviers de Sorel were resettled in 1981 from Sorel-Tracy , Québec , to Granby, Québec, and renamed Bisons de Granby. The franchise played under this name until 1995. In its last two years, the team was called Prédateurs de Granby. The team completed their most successful season in the 1995/96 season in which they first won the Coupe du Président as champions of the QMJHL. In the subsequent final tournament for the Memorial Cup , the Prédateurs defeated the Peterborough Petes from the Ontario Hockey League 4-0 in the final, which was the first time in 15 years that a Québec club won the Memorial Cup.
Following the 1996/97 season, the franchise was relocated to Sydney , Nova Scotia , where it has since participated in the QMJHL game operations under the name Cape Breton Screaming Eagles . The gap that the resettlement left in the city was closed in 1997 by Blitz de Granby from the Québec Semi-Pro Hockey League , which also competed in their league from 2002 to 2004 under the name Prédateurs de Granby.
