Priwolschski ( Russian Приво́лжский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Saratov Oblast with 34,364 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located about 15 kilometers south of the Oblast capital Saratov on the opposite, left bank of the Volga .

Priwolschski is subordinate to the administration of the city of Engels , the center of which is about ten kilometers northeast of the settlement.

history

The place emerged from the 1920s as a workers' settlement in connection with the construction of a railway bridge over the Volga and received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1939 . The name stands in Russian for on the Volga .

Economy and Infrastructure

Priwolschski is an industrial suburb of the city of Engels.

The settlement lies on the railway line Saratov - Astrakhan or - Oral ( Uralsk ; Kazakhstan), which reaches the eastern Volgaufer at Priwolschski over the several kilometers long Saratower railway bridge . The name of the station is Anissovka ; here a line branches off to Engels ( Pokrovsk-Priwolschski station ).

The regional road R226 Samara - Engels - Wolschski , which follows the left bank of the Volga on this section , runs through Priwolschski .
