geography

Tatishchevo station

The place is a good 30 km as the crow flies northwest of the Saratov Oblast Administrative Center and the right bank of the Volga on the left Medveditsa tributary Idolga .

Tatischtschewo is the administrative center of the Rajons Tatischtschewski and seat and only town of the municipality Tatischtschewskoje gorodskoje posselenije. In fact, immediately to the east is the "closed" settlement Swetly .

history

The settlement goes back to the middle of the 19th century by Saratov petty bourgeoisie (Russian meschtschane ) founded village Meschtschanowka . However, the founding year is 1890, when  the Mariinowka railway station was opened near the Koslow - Saratow railway line , which was opened in 1871 , around which a settlement grew. In the early 20th century, the station was built, the station settlement and the village grew up together, and the station was in 1905 in honor of the statesman Vasily Tatishchev in Tatischtschewo renamed.

On August 1, 1928, Meschtschanowka became the administrative seat of a newly created Rajon, which was named Tatishchevsky after the train station . Since 1960 the place has been called Tatishchevo. On July 27, 1965, it was granted urban-type settlement status.

In 1994, the secret military settlement with the camouflage name Tatishchevo-5 , which was built from 1964 to the east, was spun off as an independent settlement Swetly.
