Duchownizkoje ( Russian Духовницкое ) is an urban-type settlement in the Saratov Oblast in Russia with 5338 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 190 km as the crow flies northeast of the Saratov Oblast Administrative Center on the left bank of the 6 km wide Saratower reservoir of the Volga opposite the small town of Chwalynsk .
Dukhovnitskoye is the administrative center of the Rajons Duchownizki and seat and only town of the municipality Dukhovnitskoye gorodskoje posselenije.

history
The place was founded in 1778 by the old Orthodox under the name Pavlovskoje (alternatively Novo-Pavlovka, "New Pavlovka"). It initially belonged to the Ujesd Chwalynsk of the Saratov governorate , came in 1835 to the outsourced Ujesd Nikolajewsk (today Pugachev ) and in 1851 to the newly formed Samara governorate .
On July 23, 1928, Duchownitskoje was the administrative seat of a newly created Rajons named after him. In 1966 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

The regional road 63K-00010, which follows the left bank of the Saratov reservoir from Balakovo 60 km away, leads to Duchownizkoje . Duchownitskoye is 270 km from Saratov by road. In a south-easterly direction, a road leads to Pugatschow, also about 60 km away . There is a passenger ferry connection to Chwalynsk via the reservoir ; the car ferry connection , via which the federal highway R228, Syzran - Saratov - Volgograd , west of Chwalynsk could be reached, has been out of service since 2012. On the road from Chwalynsk in the direction of Staraya Kulatka ( Ulyanovsk Oblast ), the nearest train station is 30 km away in Popovka on the Syzran - Saratov - Volgograd route.
