The eighth season of the German reality show Promi Big Brother was broadcast on the private broadcaster Sat.1 from August 7 to 28, 2020 .
Werner Hansch won the final voting duel against Mischa Mayer and was the winner of the relay. Kathy Kelly came in third.
overview
The season takes place in a fairytale land and has the motto “Fairytale. Without parole ”. The two living areas are the luxurious fairytale castle area and the fairytale forest area with life under poor conditions. Furthermore, the games of the competitions for the shopping budget are titled with fairy tales and refer to their actions. Ginger Costello-Wollersheim appears in some games, with roles like Sleeping Beauty or Rapunzel . The Penny Market , which is part of a product placement , is advertised as a gingerbread house instead of a supermarket . In which the residents of the poor area can again shop with a budget; This time, however, the viewers decide who is allowed to shop via SAT.1 - Live TV and media library app. In addition, the Big Spender coin machine and its Big Coins shopping coins , which have been in the poor area since the fifth season, have been replaced by the wishing tree and the thaler . There is a book with pictures of the luxury items. As before, the talers are won through challenges, which are also called tasks in the show . The consulting room with Big Brother is called the robber's cave , the transition room to the Studio Hexenhäuschen .
The broadcast schedule of the show has been changed. On the one hand, the show will be extended by one broadcast week, increasing the number of episodes from 15 to 22. On the other hand, more episodes (10 of 22) are already running at 8:15 p.m. instead of 10:15 p.m. The field of participants has also been increased from 12 to 16 celebrities. In the course of the season, the list of participants increased to 18 participants due to two candidates for replacement.
The web offers were also redesigned and expanded. The Watch Together Show from the previous season will be replaced by the Warm Up Show , which was already present in the fifth and sixth seasons. Both were or will be moderated by Aaron Troschke . In addition, Claudia Obert will host a web show for the first time on Promibigbrother.de and Joyn .

Competitions
The participants from the poor "Märchenwald" area competed in a match arena until August 21, 2020 in order to earn additional credit for shopping at the supermarket, individually or in groups. The candidates for such a competition, called a "match" on the show, were either chosen by the fairytale forest residents themselves or by the director.
Less often it was about a change of area, with participation of the fairytale castle residents.

Nominations
The residents usually nominated one, more rarely two, of the other residents for the audience voting. The nominations for the other participants were made secretly in the consulting room (exception: on August 23 and 25, everyone nominated in front of the other residents in the arena). At the end of the episode, the viewers decided which of the most nominees had to leave the show. The first nomination on August 10, 2020, three days after the season premiere, took place earlier than ever before. There were two rounds of nominations in the semi-finals on August 27th.
