    ◀   Season 7

The eighth season of the German reality show Promi Big Brother was broadcast on the private broadcaster Sat.1 from August 7 to 28, 2020 .

Werner Hansch won the final voting duel against Mischa Mayer and was the winner of the relay. Kathy Kelly came in third.

    overview

The season takes place in a fairytale land and has the motto “Fairytale. Without parole ”. The two living areas are the luxurious fairytale castle area and the fairytale forest area with life under poor conditions. Furthermore, the games of the competitions for the shopping budget are titled with fairy tales and refer to their actions. Ginger Costello-Wollersheim appears in some games, with roles like Sleeping Beauty or Rapunzel . The Penny Market , which is part of a product placement , is advertised as a gingerbread house instead of a supermarket . In which the residents of the poor area can again shop with a budget; This time, however, the viewers decide who is allowed to shop via SAT.1 - Live TV and media library app. In addition, the Big Spender coin machine and its Big Coins shopping coins , which have been in the poor area since the fifth season, have been replaced by the wishing tree and the thaler . There is a book with pictures of the luxury items. As before, the talers are won through challenges, which are also called tasks in the show . The consulting room with Big Brother is called the robber's cave , the transition room to the Studio Hexenhäuschen .

The broadcast schedule of the show has been changed. On the one hand, the show will be extended by one broadcast week, increasing the number of episodes from 15 to 22. On the other hand, more episodes (10 of 22) are already running at 8:15 p.m. instead of 10:15 p.m. The field of participants has also been increased from 12 to 16 celebrities. In the course of the season, the list of participants increased to 18 participants due to two candidates for replacement.

The web offers were also redesigned and expanded. The Watch Together Show from the previous season will be replaced by the Warm Up Show , which was already present in the fifth and sixth seasons. Both were or will be moderated by Aaron Troschke . In addition, Claudia Obert will host a web show for the first time on Promibigbrother.de and Joyn .

    Competitions

The participants from the poor "Märchenwald" area competed in a match arena until August 21, 2020 in order to earn additional credit for shopping at the supermarket, individually or in groups. The candidates for such a competition, called a "match" on the show, were either chosen by the fairytale forest residents themselves or by the director.

Less often it was about a change of area, with participation of the fairytale castle residents.

    Remarks:
    1. Because the game was very difficult to double the budget, the residents were able to earn up to € 20 instead of the € 9 that was actually available. In the end, they earned € 11.
    2. Viewers could only vote for men.
    3. Viewers could only choose between the two oldest residents, Werner and Kathy.
    4. The viewers could only choose between Werner, Katy and Simone, who had not yet bought anything.
    5. Since Werner was the only resident who hadn't bought anything yet, he was designated to do so. There was therefore no vote on the part of the audience.

    Nominations

The residents usually nominated one, more rarely two, of the other residents for the audience voting. The nominations for the other participants were made secretly in the consulting room (exception: on August 23 and 25, everyone nominated in front of the other residents in the arena). At the end of the episode, the viewers decided which of the most nominees had to leave the show. The first nomination on August 10, 2020, three days after the season premiere, took place earlier than ever before. There were two rounds of nominations in the semi-finals on August 27th.

    Color legend:
  • Vote against staying in the house
  • Residents were already nominated before the resident nomination
  • Remarks:
    1. Instead of a nomination by the residents, there was the audience vote “Who should stay in fairy tale land?” . The two residents with the fewest audience votes were nominated for the selection. The remaining 14 residents then had to vote individually in secret. The resident with the most resident votes is kicked out of the show.
    2. In order to prevent a vote slap, Udo was allowed to choose someone as the winner of a duel against Claudia whose vote should not count in the selection. He chose Elene.
    3. a b Each resident had to nominate two others.
    4. Because of the duel won, the entire fairytale castle did not have to nominate anyone.
    5. a b All participants nominated openly in the presence of the other participants.
    6. Because Katy and Mischa won the duel, the nominations of the men counted twice.
    7. Because of the duel they won, Mischa, Katy and Werner had two votes.
    8. Due to several rule violations, Jenny and Elene were automatically listed on August 11th for the next nomination on August 14th. Jenny then left the house voluntarily on Aug 12. However, Elene won the nominees' game on Aug. 14 and was thus able to protect herself from being expelled.
    9. a b The entire fairytale castle received nomination protection for the duel won .
    10. Since there were many more men than women in the house, the female residents could not be nominated.
    11. Aaron received nomination protection for the duel he won. Ikke as the loser of the duel was nominated directly.
    12. After the live show on August 23, 2020, the residents had to name their favorites for victory in a list. The last resident, Aaron, was automatically put on the nomination list.
    13. As a reward for winning the duel, Katy received a nomination protection card, which he could pass on to another resident besides the loser of the duel. He decided to keep her for himself. Simone received a nomination card for the lost duel, which she could also pass on to another resident besides the holder of the nomination protection card. She decided to keep the card and use it to nominate herself.
    14. The winning team of the duel were allowed to choose a team member who received nomination protection. The team chose Katy. The losing team, however, had to put a team member directly on the nomination list; here the choice fell on Ramin.

Jochen Schropp and Marlene Lufen once again moderated the show produced by Endemol Shine Germany in MMC Studios Cologne . For the first time since the fourth season there was a full season live audience. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , however, extensive measures were carried out taking into account all official requirements. Among other things, the audience was limited to 100 people and assigned to fixed positions in the stands according to the applicable distance rules. More of Lotte's was used as the season's theme song as well as a transition to commercial breaks. The human voice of Big Brother was Phil Daub, the trailer and summary comments were greeted by Pat Murphy spoken.

    Special

    • With Saskia Beecks , a candidate decided against participation for the first time before moving in. Jenny Frankhauser stood in for them . However, after a week she decided to voluntarily leave the show.
    • With Jenny Frankhauser, Senay Gueler and Elene Lucia Ameur, three candidates left the show for the first time. That is the highest number of voluntary excerpts in a season of Celebrity Big Brother.
    • When they moved in, 81-year-old Werner Hansch was the oldest and 21-year-old Emmy Russ was the youngest Celebrity Big Brother participant to date. After a few days, the 18-year-old successor Alessia Herren became the new age record holder. In addition, Hansch was 82 years old during the show.
    • Emmy Russ and Alessia Herren entered the monastery in the first episode of Ab! - Rosary instead of riot together. Both left the monastery prematurely on the third of the scheduled eight days. Emmy Russ also left Beauty & The Nerd prematurely without taking a chance to stay through a decision quiz.
    • Katy Bähm kicked their way into the enchanted forest as a drag queen there only undisguised in their identity "Burak Bildik" and was only in the fairytale castle again temporarily to Katy Bähm; Ikke Hüftgold gave up this identity on August 11th and continued as "Matthias Distel" without a wig.
    • During the audience vote on August 26th, “Who should stay in Märchenland?” For Emmy Russ or Simone Mecky-Ballack, two progress bars with 50.98% and 49.02% were displayed and Jochen Schropp and Marlene Lufen commented: “ It's never been so close. "
    • As Jochen Schropp announced in the final, Werner Hansch, aged 82, is the world's oldest winner of a reality show.
