Rambach is a district of the Hessian state capital Wiesbaden .
The place extends in a narrow valley, which is one of the foothills of the Taunus and through which the Salzbach tributary Rambach, which gives the place its name, meanders. The development is directly connected to that of the neighboring Sonnenberg district .
Neighboring districts and neighboring communities
Neighboring districts are Sonnenberg, Bierstadt , Heßloch and Naurod . On the northern border to Niedernhausen ( Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis ) lies the nature conservation and FFH area Theiss Valley of Niedernhausen .
history
The place was probably built in the middle of the 12th century; the first documentary mention dates from 1264 in a property register of the Altmünster monastery in Mainz . In 1441 Rambach came to Nassau , in 1546 there was a fire that destroyed the chapel and the Oberrambach district .
In 1845 the remains of a Roman homestead were found in the forest near Rambach. In 1892 the new Protestant church that still exists today was opened. Architect: Ludwig Hofmann. In 1928 it was incorporated into Wiesbaden.
In 1866 Rambach came to Prussia . As a result of prolonged rainfall, some houses in the village were destroyed, and the wooden church finally had to be demolished. In 1891/1892 the Protestant Christians built a stone church.
At the end of the Second World War, Allied air forces bombed the place, 30 residents fell victim to the attacks and numerous residential buildings were badly damaged.
In the early 1960s, the local Catholics built their own church and dedicated it to John the Evangelist (see picture).
On July 11, 2014, the place was again the victim of a severe storm. In some places the water was up to a meter high. The 750th anniversary celebration that was going on at the time literally fell through.
Buildings
In addition to the church buildings (Protestant) and (Roman Catholic) shown here, the district has the former town hall, which is still used by the administration. It emerged from a restored half-timbered building.
