Rochowo (German Rochow ) is a small village directly on the eastern border of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the urban and rural municipality Polanów ( Pollnow ) in the powiat Koszaliński ( Köslin district ).

Geographical location

Rochowo is eight kilometers northeast of the small town of Polanów ( Pollnow ) on a side road that connects Rzeczyca Wielka ( (Groß) Reetz ) on Voivodeship Road 206 with Mzdowo ( Misdow ) on Voivodeship Road 208 .

The route of the Gramenz – Zollbrück railway line, which was closed in 1945 and where the Rochow railway station was located, runs through the village . Today there is a rail connection for the town via the Przytocko ( Pritzig ) and Ciecholub ( Techlipp ) stations on the Piła – Ustka ( Schneidemühl - Stolpmünde ) railway line, each eight kilometers away .

history

Rochow was not mentioned in a document until 1575, but is considered an old Lettow property and probably the foundation of the colonial era. In 1590 ten farmers and two cottages were settled here, in 1685 - after the war - there were only three farmers. At the end of the 18th century the village had eight farmers, six of whom belonged to the Rummelsburger and two to the Schlawer district .

The estate was owned by the von Lettow family for many years . Then the owners changed, u. a. were owned by Glasenapp , von Below , Wrangel and von Loeben for a time. From 1904 to 1945 it was owned by the Wilke family.

In 1812 Rochow had 70 inhabitants. Their number rose to 109 by 1843, again to 114 in 1885 and to 145 by 1925. In 1928 Rochow was incorporated into the newly formed rural community Misdow (now in Polish: Mzdowo).

Until 1945 Rochow and the municipality Misdow belonged to the district of Rummelsburg in the administrative district of Köslin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . After 1945 the place came under the name Rochowo to Poland and became part of the Gmina Polanów in Powiat Koszaliński in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (1975 to 1998 Koszalin Voivodeship ). Today fewer than 20 local residents are registered here.

church

Before 1945 the population of Rochow was almost without exception Protestant denomination. The place belonged to the parish Vellin (now Polish: Wielin), which was a branch parish in the Parish Pollnow since the mid-1930s . It was located in the church district of Schlawe (Sławno) in the eastern district of the church province of Pomerania of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .

Since 1945 the inhabitants of Rochowo have been predominantly Catholic . The village still belongs to Wielin ( Vellin ), which is assigned to the parish in Polanów ( Pollnow ). It is located in the Polanów deanery in the Köslin-Kolberg diocese of the Catholic Church in Poland . Protestant church members living here are assigned to the parish office in Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
