Boutersem is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 8,242 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the individual districts of Boutersem , Kerkom , Neervelp , Roosbeek , Vertrijk and Willehaben .

Leuven is 10 kilometers northwest, Brussels about 32 km west, Antwerp 50 km northwest and Liège 56 km southeast.

The municipality has a motorway exit on the A3 / E 40 and a train station on the Brussels – Liège line ; there are others in Leuven and Tienen . Brussels National
Airport near the capital is the nearest international airport.
