Shooting sports (also known as sports shooting) is one of the oldest Olympic sports and was only twice absent from the Olympic Games. Coubertin , the founder of the modern Olympic Games, was an avid pistol shooter.

Overview competitions for men (or open)

There are 15 shooting competitions in the Olympic Games - 9 for men and 6 for women. Mexico City In 1968 the competitions were opened to the participation of women
