The Scottish League Challenge Cup is a Scottish cup competition in football that was introduced to mark the 100th anniversary of the Scottish Championship in the 1989/90 season. All teams below the Scottish Premiership are allowed to participate . So clubs from the Championship , League One and League Two .
The competition takes place in knockout mode and starts at the beginning of each season. The final is usually played in April in a neutral stadium, which is selected according to geographical criteria with reference to the finalists.
