Career

societies

Celozzi began playing football at the local sports club in Bubesheim , later was active at TSV 1924 Wasserburg, a district club in Günzburg, and then joined the youth department of SSV Ulm in 1846 . After the son of Italian immigrants had regularly performed well, those responsible at FC Bayern Munich , which has a club partnership with the Ulm team, noticed him. At the beginning of the 2005/06 season, Celozzi moved together with Deniz Yılmaz to the youth department of FC Bayern Munich. Due to the lack of personnel on the defensive, Hermann Gerland , coach of the second team, appointed Celozzi to the regional league team . There he became a constant. However, several injuries threw him back; initially he therefore only played in the U19 youth team. For the second half of the 2006/07 season he returned to the Regionalliga team.

On May 1, 2007, Celozzi was appointed to the professional training group for the first time by Ottmar Hitzfeld . In the 2007/08 season he was a contract player in the extended professional squad, but remained without a competitive game.

For the 2008/09 season , Celozzi moved to Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC for around 200,000 euros , for whom he signed a contract valid until 2011. On August 16, 2008 (1st matchday) Celozzi made his debut in a 1-0 win at home against VfL Bochum . Although the relegation of KSC from the Bundesliga was certain after the end of the season, Celozzi was a winner of the season. He prevailed at the Karlsruhe team and became one of the public favorites. The fans recognized his achievements after the end of the season by voting the defender “KSC Player of the Year”.

For the 2009/10 season Celozzi moved to VfB Stuttgart . With VfB Stuttgart, he played his first game in the qualifying games for participation in the Champions League 2009/10 against the Romanian representative FC Timișoara on August 18, 2009 , followed by six more until they were eliminated in the second round .

VfB Stuttgart did not extend the contract with Celozzi, which expired on June 30, 2012. He was then committed by league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt for the 2012/13 season . Celozzi signed a contract with the newcomer until June 30, 2014.

After Celozzi's contract was not extended - in two seasons he did not get beyond a reserve role - he moved to the second division VfL Bochum , for whom he played on August 2, 2014 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth made his debut. On August 13, 2016, the 2nd matchday of the 2016/17 season , he scored his first goal for Bochum in a 1-1 draw against his former club, Karlsruher SC , in his 163rd professional game , making it 1-0. In the 2017/18 season , after the suspension of Felix Bastians , he rose to become Bochum's team captain under interim coach and later head coach Jens Rasiejewski . He was able to maintain this position under the subsequent coach Robin Dutt . In the 2019/20 season , the defender lost his regular seat, and his captaincy was transferred from head coach Dutt to Anthony Losilla . Celozzi came on six cross-competition starting eleven and received no extension of his expiring contract.
