Steinmühle (colloquially: "Schdāmíl") is a district of the municipality Weihenzell in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .
geography
The hamlet is located on the Rippach, a left tributary of the Haselbach , which flows into the Bibert on the right . A little east of the mill, the Muckenwiesengraben flows into the Rippach on the right. Approx. The Eckertsleiten corridor is 0.5 km to the north. The place is on the district road AN 10 , which leads to Weihenzell (1 km northwest) or past the Fessenmühle to Frankendorf (2 km east).
history
The mill was first mentioned by name in the Vetter'schen Oberamtsbeschreibung of the Principality of Ansbach from 1732 as "Stein Mühl". According to the Weihenzell church chronicle, it is said to have originally been called "Wiesenmühle". The place name refers to the rocky ground on which the mill was built and not to the design of the mill, as all water mills were built of stone at that time .
Towards the end of the 18th century there was an estate in Steinmühle. The high court and the manorial rule exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .
As part of the community edict, Steinmühle was assigned to the Weihenzell tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Weihenzell, founded in 1811 .
