history

The place was probably founded in the 12th or 13th century. It was first mentioned by name in 1317 as "Schonenbrunnen", ie a settlement at the clear source .

At the end of the 18th century there were 7 properties in Schönbronn. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . The village and township government had the pen Office Ansbach held. The landlords were the monastery of Ansbach (1 yard, 3 half yards, 2 farms) and the manor Frohnhof of the Lords of Eyb (1 farm). In addition to the property, there were communal buildings (shepherd's house, crushing house ). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

In the topo-geographical-statistical lexicon of the Kingdom of Bavaria (1832) the place is described as follows:

“Hamlet in the Pf [ar] r [ei] Wernsbach and in the L [an] dg [ericht] Ansbach, 1 12 hours away from its seat. It contains 9 houses with 60 residents. In the year 1244 the place was owned by Heinrich v. Hertenbach, who in the same year reversed himself against the burgraves Johann and Albrecht, to wait with the castle barn there and to receive it as a hereditary castle loan, that it should be an open house. In the documents this place is also called Oberschönbronn , in contrast to Schönbronn bei Herrieden. "

As part of the municipal edict, Schönbronn was assigned to the Wernsbach tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Wernsbach, founded in 1811 . In voluntary jurisdiction, a property was subject to the Frohnhof Patrimonial Court from 1822 to 1836 . On January 1, 1974, Schönbronn was incorporated into the community of Weihenzell as part of the regional reform .
