Frankendorf (colloquially: Frangg ə dorf ) is a district of the municipality Weihenzell in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village is located on the Rippach, which is a left tributary of the Haselbach , and on the Dünnholzgraben, which flows into the Rippach as a left tributary. In the northeast lies the Kohlschlag forest area , in the northwest the thin wood and approx. 0.5 km southwest the long wood . Municipal roads lead to Forst (0.6 km north) and crossing the state road 2246 to Thurndorf (2 km south). The district road AN 10 leads past the Fessen and Steinmühle to Weihenzell (3 km northwest) or to the state road 2246 near Neubruck (1.5 km east).

history

The place was first mentioned by name in the Würzburg fief book of 1303 as "Franckendorff". The final word of the place name can be a) the personal name Franko or b) the people of the Franks . If the second interpretation is correct, then that would be proof that the Franks in this area did not make up the majority of the population at that time, but formed only a thin layer of the conquerors.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Frankendorf including the Fessenmühle . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . The village and township government had the manor Frohnhof the Lords of Eyb held. The landlords were the manor Frohnhof (2 half farms, 1 farmhouse, 4 Söldengüter ) and the manor Rügland of the Lords of Crailsheim (1 mill, 1 courtyard, 3 Söldengüter, 1 pub licensed, 1 forge). In addition to the property, there were the following municipal buildings: shepherd's house, crushing house . At that time there were 12 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Frankendorf was assigned to the Vestenberg tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Vestenberg, founded in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) Frankendorf was re-ceded to Bruckberg . On August 13, 1827, it was re- grouped into the newly formed community of Forst . In the voluntary jurisdiction, seven properties from 1820 to 1848 were subordinate to the Rügland Patrimonial Court . On July 1, 1971, this was finally incorporated into Weihenzell as part of the regional reform .
