history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1291 as "Forst" (1504 also "Vorst"). It was founded on a cleared area in the 10th to 13th centuries. As early as 1309, the place had its own parish with an associated church, dedicated to St. Stephan was consecrated. Forst was badly affected by the Thirty Years' War and the place no longer reached its original size.

In the 16-point report of the Principality of Ansbach from 1684, 2 teams were recorded for Forst: One property was subordinate to the Court Office of Ansbach and the other property to the Mendelschen Twelve Brothers Foundation of the imperial city of Nuremberg . The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 2 properties in Forst (1 courtyard, 1 tavern ). The court box office in Ansbach continued to exercise the high court and the village and community rule. The two properties were subordinate to the Mendel Twelve Brothers Foundation of the imperial city of Nuremberg. In addition to the property, there were also church buildings (church, chaplain’s house) and communal buildings (school house). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

In 1806 Forst came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , Forst was assigned to the Bruckberg tax district, formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Bruckberg, founded in 1811 . On August 13, 1827, the residents of Forst, Frankendorf , Petersdorf and Fessenmühle were allowed to form the community of Forst. It was subordinate to the Ansbach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Ansbach Rent Office ( renamed Ansbach Tax Office in 1920 ). From 1862 on, Forst was administered by the Ansbach district office (renamed the Ansbach district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Ansbach until 1870, 1870-1879 city and district court Ansbach , since 1880 district court Ansbach . The municipality had an area of 7.490 km².

School operations ceased in the 1960s. In 1967 the school building was demolished.

As part of the regional reform , the community of Forst was incorporated into Weihenzell on July 1, 1971.
