Die für die Erben is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The episode was produced by Südwestrundfunk under the direction of Lars Montag and first broadcast on German television on July 1, 2007. It is the 670th episode of the crime scene and 42nd episode with the Ludwigshafen investigator Lena Odenthal , who this time deals with the problem of “ communities of heirs ” in a humorous and criminalistic way .

action

The wealthy hotelier Karl Grimm runs his hotel "Pfalzkrone" in a very authoritarian style. As a result, he is not only very popular with his employees, but also with his family. One night he fell over the banister of his hotel and the next morning he was found dead in the lobby.

Commissioner Lena Odenthal and her colleague Mario Kopper are to take over the case and investigate together with intern Viktoria Merz. Since Kopper later appears at the crime scene, the hotel staff mistake him for the new cook. Odenthal likes the idea and so she lets her colleagues operate “from the kitchen”.

The first tests already show that the fall could not have been an accident. Grimm leaves behind three grown children, Heike Martinek, Walter and Pia Grimm, who are obviously at odds with one another, which is now increasing. Pia was given the hotel over nine years ago by her father, but due to his untimely death this has to flow back into the inheritance legally, so that Heike and Walter are entitled to their compulsory portion again. If Pia had to pay off her siblings now, she would get into acute financial difficulties. With that she is actually leaving as the perpetrator and Odenthal concentrates on the siblings who have benefited from the death of their father. However, there is also a married couple who checked out of the hotel early and whose address is incorrect. During the research, Odenthal finds out that the woman's real name is Hildegard Stiller and that she stayed in the hotel with a man whom no one should find out about.

Kopper finds out that Heike Martinek regularly secretly fetched documents from her father's office, but also kept bringing them back. As it stands, the Martineks were looking for vulnerabilities to get Pia to sell the hotel. Heike is a real estate agent and has a keen interest in the property being sold to one of her customers. For the time of the crime, however, she has an alibi and Walter Grimm also ultimately leaves the group of perpetrators.

Unexpectedly, Pia Grimm comes under suspicion, because the family lawyer informs Odenthal that Karl Grimm wanted to cancel his donation. In addition, she has already suppressed various images that belong to the genetic makeup. When the investigators take Pia Grimm to the presidium for further questioning, their son Jonas reacts unexpectedly and manipulates the gas pipe so that gas escapes uncontrollably. He had started an apprenticeship in the hotel rather involuntarily, but actually would rather be a pilot. Odenthal and Kopper were able to prevent a gas explosion at the last moment and question the boy. He explains to them that his grandfather was a monster and a tyrant. He would have overheard the argument that his grandfather wanted to cancel the donation and move them all out of the hotel. When he caught Jonas listening, he would have grabbed him and shook him. However, Odenthal and Kopper think it is unlikely that he pushed the old man over the railing.

At the end, the inspector finds a will with a suicide note from Karl Grimm, in which he declares that he has been suffering from Alzheimer's for some time and that it has become clear to him that none of his selfish children would look after him. So he wanted to put an end to his life and jump to death. Because none of his children would look after him when he was ill, he set up the Bird Friends Association as the sole heir.

criticism

At welt.de , Franz Solms-Laubach says: “The good thing about Odenthal 'Tatort' programs is usually the reliable quality, here you can argue whether the exaggeration of the characters and the comedic script really lifted the crime scene. You can already look at it, the new 'crime scene'. Especially if you want to see Ulrike Folkerts in a crime comedy. But there are really better episodes with her. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm give this crime scene the thumbs up and say: "A humorous crime chamber game with wickedness served bone-dry." And it is a "detective game with wonderful characters."
