Terrell Ray Ward, Jr. (* 12. December 1986 in Antioch , California ) is an American American football player at the position of Safety . He is currently a free agent . He previously played for the Cleveland Browns , the Denver Broncos and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . With the Broncos he won the Super Bowl 50 .
Early years
Ward went to high school in Concord , California and later to the University of Oregon , where he played for the Oregon Ducks .
NFL
Cleveland Browns
Ward was selected in the NFL Draft 2010 in the second round as a total of 38th player by the Cleveland Browns . He completed all 16 games of the season in his first year in the NFL, scoring 123 tackles and two interceptions . Against the Cincinnati Bengals , he shared a tough "helmet on helmet" hit against Bengals player Jordan Shipley , after which Ward had to pay a fine. In his second season he was only able to play eight season games due to an injury, but booked his first sack of the season. In the 2012 season he played 14 season games, in 2013 all 16. In 2013, he was nominated for the first time for the Pro Bowl .
Denver Broncos
On March 11, 2014, Ward signed a four-year $ 23 million deal with the Denver Broncos . Here he was again nominated for the Pro Bowl in his first season . In the 2015 season he scored 61 tackles, 2 sacks and forced 2 fumbles . The Broncos ended the season with twelve wins and four losses. The Broncos also had the best defense in the NFL this season . Ward injured his ankle in the AFC's Divisional Round against the Pittsburgh Steelers . The game won the Broncos 23:16 and thus came into the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots , which could also be won with 20:18. However, Ward could not take part in this game due to his injury. For Super Bowl 50 , however, he returned to the squad and won here with the Denver Broncos against the Carolina Panthers with 24:10. Ward secured a fumble and caught an interception in the game. He was released on September 2, 2017.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Just a day after his release from the Broncos, Ward signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the 2017 regular season began .

TJ Ward is the brother of Terron Ward , currently running back with the Atlanta Falcons and the cousin of former running back Maurice Jones-Drew ( Jacksonville Jaguars , Oakland Raiders ).
