Before the old cemetery around the parish church was closed in 1793, today's cemetery was laid out in 1787 and then expanded in 1894. In the 19th century the pig trade became an important economic factor.

Parish Church of Thaya
See also:  List of listed objects in Thaya (Lower Austria)
  • Peigarten Castle is a four-wing complex with partly medieval masonry, which was expanded at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries.
  • Parish church Thaya: The parish church of Petrus and Paulus is a Gothic building with a Romanesque core. The Stations of the Cross in the church were taken from the parish church of Unken in 1889 . The hospital church, which is used today as a mortuary, was built in 1689. The local chapels of Niederedlitz, Jarolden and Großgerharts are baroque buildings.
  • Museum Thaya: The museum building is the oldest house in Thaya. Cross vaults in the entrance area and a smoke kitchen on the upper floor are part of the architectural equipment. The focus is on the finds and findings of archaeological excavations by the Institute for Prehistory and Protohistory of the University of Vienna in the medieval wasteland of Kleinhard and Hard near Thaya. Remodeling work in the museum led to further discoveries, a coin treasure and the remains of a bell foundry workshop from around 1200. The presentation of the coins gives an insight into more than 200 years of monetary history. In addition to the permanent exhibition on the upper floor of the museum, the ground floor offers enough space for special exhibitions that change every year.
  • Four kilometers to the east there are two deserted areas, Hard and Kleinhard, which were abandoned in the late Middle Ages. The two places were rediscovered in 1975 and, thanks to the archaeological excavations, are among the best-documented devastation in Austria. Excavation documentation is on display in the local history museum in Thaya . There is an earth stable in the manor .
  • A cellar of considerable size is located under the Haidl inn. The Haidl cellar, which dates back to the Middle Ages and was previously used for storing supplies or as an escape route, can now be explored with a small boat.
  • Guitar exhibition: Permanent exhibition of the completely differently designed electric guitars by Roland Hauke, which are characterized by their creative world of shapes, unusual woods and unique features. The variety of exhibits - there are currently over 70 guitars on display - is unique in Austria, if not worldwide. The entire collection comprises around 200 copies. In 2016, the market town of Thaya acquired the old Gasthaus Hauer, a listed building, at Hauptstrasse 14 . A local supplier was set up in the right part of the property in 2017 and the new SCHAU.RÄUME was designed from 2017 to 2018 in accordance with listed buildings. The 'HAUKE GUITARS THAYA' collection will be shown in these rooms in the coming years. The history of the remarkable house is documented in detail on a display board in the entrance area.
  • Weapons Museum: Niederedlitz has the largest private museum for historical weapons technology and military equipment in Austria. Years of collector's passion have brought together more than 700 exhibits from Europe and North America. The collection offers insights into military history, firearms and equipment from 1680 to 1960.
