Projects

The Master Of The Uni-Vers is Bavaria's largest poetry slam with 1,500 spectators

In the summer of 2012, Spitzer and the Uni Jazz Orchester Regensburg initiated the project "bunt und Kühl", in which students from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz set three texts by poetry lamb Kaleb Erdmann, David Friedrich and Thomas Spitzer for big band to music to perform with the poetry lambs as soloists. The project celebrated its premiere in April 2014 and had over 1,500 spectators at around 10 events. The fusion of jazz and slam poetry was received positively by the reviews. This was followed by a book and a CD publication including a half-hour video documentation of the project.

In winter 2013, the Munich cultural organizers Ko Bylanzky and Thomas Spitzer successfully applied to host the German-language poetry slam championship in the U20 category in Regensburg . As part of this, in May 2014 they organized the “Master of the Uni-Vers” in the Regensburg Audimax. This was the most successful poetry slam in Bavaria with almost 1,500 spectators and was successfully repeated in November 2014. The U20Slam2015 was carried out with 66 actors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The participants fought for the championship title for four days in six preliminary rounds, two semi-finals and a grand final. Overall, the 13 events including the U20Slam2015 special at the Campusfest had over 3,000 spectators. The U20Slam2015 was Bavaria's first international poetry slam championship since the German-speaking championships in Munich in 2006 and the largest German-speaking U20 championship ever. In addition to the participants came the inventor of the poetry slam Marc Kelly Smith from Chicago, the French U20 champion Constance and many special guests such as Lars Ruppel , Julian Heun, Sebastian23 and Hazel Brugger . During the festival, two TV documentaries about poetry slams were shot.

Guests included Usus Mango from RebellComedy , Johnny Armstrong , Erika Ratcliffe, Helene Bockhorst and Shahak Shapira . The podcast inspired Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt to create their “ Mixed Hack ” podcast . Their very first episode was recorded in his living room using Spitzer's equipment.
