Pleiskirchen is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting with the main places Pleiskirchen, Wald bei Winhöring and Nonnberg .

Geographical location
Pleiskirchen is located in the hilly country of the Isar-Inn hill country , 15 km north of Altötting. The municipality is the northernmost and largest municipality in the Altötting district . It borders on the district of Mühldorf am Inn in the west and the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn in the east.

history
Pleiskirchen belonged to the Burghausen Rent Office and the Neuötting District Court of the Electorate of Bavaria. The archbishopric of Salzburg , however, exercised by the chairman shaft Pleiskirchen until its repeal in 1803, the lower jurisdiction over its local subjects from.
With the second parish edict in 1818, the parishes of Pleiskirchen, Nonnberg , Geratskirchen II (since 1956 Wald near Winhöring ) and Eggen were established in what is now the Pleiskirchen parish . On January 1, 1966, the division of the municipality of Pleiskirchen, which was carried out in the second half of the 18th century, was reversed by merging the municipalities of Oberpleiskirchen and Unterpleiskirchen to form the new municipality of Pleiskirchen. The municipality of Eggen was dissolved on January 1, 1967. Their localities were incorporated into Reischach, Wald near Winhöring and Winhöring. The incorporation of Wald near Winhöring and Nonnberg into Pleiskirchen on January 1, 1972 was controversial for a long time.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 2,180 to 2,454 by 274 inhabitants or 12.6%.

Konrad Zeiler (Free Voters) has been at the head of the community since May 1, 2014; he was confirmed in office on March 15, 2020 with two competitors with 60.4% of the votes. His predecessor was Sepp Eder (2000-2014). Erwin Schneider was mayor from 1990 to 2000 ; In 2000 he was elected district administrator of the Altötting district.
Municipal council
After the last local election on March 15, 2020 , the local council has 14 members, 7 of whom belong to the CSU / Citizens' List and 7 to the Free Voters faction. The turnout was 79.0% (2014: 80.2%). Another member and chairman of the municipal council is the mayor.

The description of the coat of arms introduced in 1982 reads: "Above a golden shield base with a green post, which is covered with a gold miter, a silver post in red, inside a green linden leaf under a green heraldic lily."
