Val Masino is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 868 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sondrio in Lombardy . The village of Bagni del Masino is known for its thermal baths.
geography
The municipality is located about 18.5 kilometers west-northwest of Sondrio in the Val Masino of the same name and borders directly on the Swiss municipality of Bregaglia in the canton of Graubünden . The municipality is surrounded by several mountains with peaks from 3,000 to 3,600 meters (including Monte Disgrazia ) and Val di Mello is one of them. The neighboring communities are Ardenno , Bregaglia (CH-GR), Buglio in Monte , Chiesa in Valmalenco , Civo and Novate Mezzola .
history
In the Bagni del Masino Matteo Bandello also came here, and in the 18th century the members of the most famous Lombard families came to take care, as attested by the writings preserved in a wood-paneled room.
