Talamona municipality in the province of Sondrio

Talamona is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4684 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sondrio in Lombardy .

geography

The municipality is located about 21 kilometers west-southwest of Sondrio on the Adda north of the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi . The neighboring communities are Albaredo per San Marco , Ardenno , Dazio , Forcola , Morbegno and Tartano .

traffic

Talamona is located on Strada Statale 38 dello Stelvi on the section between Lago di Como and Sondrio. There is also a train station on the Veltlinbahn .

Attractions

  • Parish church of Santa Maria Nascente rebuilt in the 20th century but still preserves the bell tower, presbytery and absys from the 16th century.
  • Church of San Giorgio near the cemetery renovated (1623) on the high altar preserves the painting Virgin and Child, with Saints George and Adalbert on both sides (1601) by Carlo Buzzi from Viggiù .
  • Church of San Gerolamo in the district of Serterio superiore (15th century) has a gable facade with a baroque marble portal. A large San Cristoforo is painted in the company of a smaller Jerome with two saints. Inside there is also a Last Supper that has many similarities to that of San Giorgio in Premiana. The artists Francesco Guaita from Como and Abbondio Baruta from Domaso are the authors of the exterior and interior frescoes.
