Attractions

  • Parish church of Santi Cosma e Damiano and ossuary. The Bishop of Como , Filippo Archinti, came to Sernio for a pastoral visit in 1614 and that year asked the parish to do everything possible to enable the residents of this church. In 1630 Giovanni Ceppi locked up in the house for fear of the plague and tied a legacy to the parish church. Even an emigrant from Sernio in Cologne in 1640 allocated three hundred and two lire to the Fabbrica di Sernio. It appears that in 1656 an Omodei offered seven hundred lire to pay the main bell.
  • San Gottardo Church. It turns out that the Gottardo Omodei and Gottardo Tampalini left a remarkable legacy in the temple of San Gottardo in 1684; the current building was probably built during these years. The church of San Gottardo with its six altars was therefore almost complete in all its parts. In 1776 the valuable high altar was built in polychrome marble.
  • San Rocco Church
  • Oratory of Santa Maria della Neve with painting (XV century): an old carved and painted wooden Ancona by Giacomo del Maino ( Milan 1469 - Pavia 1505) of the highest quality, integrated into the main altar of the small church (1486–1488).
  • Oratory of San Pietro (1769)
  • Omodei Palace (XVII century). Giovanni Antonio Omodei, although he owned an elegant mansion in the village and the medieval tower in 1623, had a new residence built in the Piazza district in the west of the village and expanded in the course of the 18th century with the extension of the north wing.
