Grosio is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4471 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sondrio in Lombardy .
geography
The municipality is located about 34 kilometers northeast of Sondrio on the border with Switzerland and the province of Brescia . Grosio is on the Adda . The Stelvio National Park is located a few kilometers to the northeast . The neighboring communities are Grosotto , Monno (BS), Poschiavo (CH-GR), Sondalo , Valdidentro , Valdisotto and Vezza d'Oglio (BS).

Economy and Transport
A hydropower plant on the Adda has a net output of more than 100 MW. Grosio is located on Strada Statale 38 del Passo Stelvio , which , coming from Lake Como , leads to the Stelvio Pass and on to Merano and Bozen .
