The Verbandsgemeinde Thalfang am Erbeskopf is an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Verbandsgemeinde belong to 21 independent local communities , the administrative seat is in the eponymous community Thalfang . In the area of the Verbandsgemeinde is the eponymous Erbeskopf , the highest elevation in Rhineland-Palatinate.

history
After a controversial but in its historical value document of 4 April 633 the Frankish king gave Dagobert I. the monastery of Saint Maximin at Trier, the royal land between Ruwerbach and Hochwald , which also includes the Hofgut Talovanc belonged. From the 12th century Thalfang belonged to the Thalfang mark , which was also called Amt Dhronecken from the 14th century .
The Wildgräfliche Burg Dhronecken was the administrative seat of the office. The castle was besieged unsuccessfully in 1403 by the Elector of Trier . The Mark Dhronecken was only dissolved under the French in 1800. The French reorganized the distribution of land, and the mairies Talling and Thalfang emerged. Mairie Thalfang included the places Bäsch , Burtscheid , Deuselbach , Dhronecken, Etgert , Hilscheid , Immert , Malborn , Rorodt and the extinct Röderbach (abandoned around 1900). Mairie Talling included the towns of Berektiven , Gielert , Lückenburg , Neunkirchen and Schönberg . Due to the resolutions passed at the Congress of Vienna , the Rhineland became part of Prussia in 1815 . The mayor's offices of Talling and Thalfang were formed from the two Mairien in 1816 and were assigned to the Bernkastel district and the Trier administrative district . This area reorganization continues to this day, except that in the years 1969 to 1972 through the Rhineland-Palatinate regional reform, the local communities Gräfendhron and Horath from the community of Neumagen-Dhron , Merschbach from the community of Morbach and Breit , Büdlich and Heidenburg from the community of Klüsserath were added. As part of the simultaneous administrative reform, the "Verbandsgemeinde Thalfang" was newly formed. Since January 14, 1993, the association has had the additional designation "am Erbeskopf ".

On June 1, 2019, Hüllenkremer was prematurely retired for health reasons. A new election is delayed due to legal requirements caused by the upcoming merger of the association. The mayor's duties are therefore carried out by the councilors. After the new election in 2019, these are the first alderman Vera Höfner, as well as the alderman Anton Göppert and Stephan Müller.
